The mission of the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless is to work collaboratively toward the prevention of homelessness and the creation of lasting solutions for homeless and at-risk families, children, and individuals throughout Colorado. The Coalition advocates for and provides a continuum of housing and a variety of services to improve the health, well-being, and stability of those it serves.

Reporting to the Total Rewards Manager, the Benefits Administrator will manage the day-to-day operations of Colorado Coalition for the Homeless (CCH) benefits and deliver outstanding employee engagement through administering health benefits, retirement & wellness programs, leave of absences, ADA reasonable accommodations and CCH policies. The role will support the design and implementation of wellness and health education initiatives.

Essential Job Functions 

    • Complete administration of all benefit programs to ensure compliance with regulations and plan provisions (including vendor communication, invoice reconciliation, draft communication materials, plan document review, answer questions, etc.).
    • Act as a main point of contact for employee questions and problem resolutions.
    • Provide exceptional service to all customers. Effective communication with team members in a timely manner to respond to team member’s benefits, leave and reasonable accommodation related questions, issues and concerns.
    • Provide guidance and support to help employees understand and utilize their benefits.
    • In partnership with our third-party administrator, Guardian, administer all aspects of CCH’s Leave of Absence (LOA) programs, including non-FMLA medical leave, FMLA, CO FAMLI, and other state/local leaves.
    • Manage leave tracking, run leave reports, communicate with employees and managers.
    •     Provide LOA instructions to employees and maintain communication with employees during leave.
    •     Communicate leave status requests and determinations to managers and provide guidance to ensure compliance with federal and state laws.
    •     Counsel employees regarding LOA, including explaining leave policies, and exercise judgement when to escalate complex leave cases to HR Business Partners and Total Rewards Manager.
    • ADA Reasonable Accommodation – Process ADA reasonable accommodation requests and, in conjunction with the HR Business Partners and employees’ managers, make decisions on employee requests. Monitor and track all accommodations and provide updates to managers.
    • Administer workers’ compensation claims, track employee status and submit paperwork in accordance with the State’s policy and guidelines.
    • Conduct new hire benefits presentations. Explain enrollment options and guide employees to make informed decisions.
    • Create, maintain, troubleshoot, and audit the accuracy and performance of benefits-related functions in CCH HRIS (Dayforce).
    • Responsible for the successful implementation and maintenance of file feeds. Conduct regular benefit-related and payroll-related audits to ensure compliance and data accuracy.
    • Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits, leave and reasonable accommodation processes.
    • Assist in completions of reporting requirements for all relevant government rules/regulations including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA Reporting, 5500 filings, Summary Plan Documents, Non-Discrimination Testing; review and analyze changes to state and federal laws pertaining to Benefits and report necessary or suggested changes to management.
    • Process and verify for accuracy all reimbursement requests for the Health Reimbursement Program and Medical Reimbursement Program and remit to Accounts Payable and/or payroll departments for payment to the employee.
    • Assist the Total Rewards Manager with the annual open enrollment process, including communications, training and system updates.
    • Partner with Finance and Payroll to ensure effective execution of benefits reconciliations and remittance of insurance premiums to the providers.
    • Other duties/projects as assigned.
    • Working Conditions Works primarily in a climate-controlled office environment with frequent interpersonal interactions and the option for hybrid work.

Qualifications Summary 

    •  Minimum of 2+ years of experience in benefits (including health and retirement and wellness plans), workers’ compensation, leave (FMLA, CO FAMLI, other state/local leaves) and ADA reasonable accommodation administration.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word); to include advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot-Tables, VLOOKUP’s, MACROs, etc.) required.
    • Maintain knowledge and expertise on benefits trends, laws and regulatory changes; ensure compliance with ERISA and other pertinent federal and state legal requirements.
    • Knowledge of leave requirements and other legal protections afforded by the FMLA, CO FAMLI, ADA, and other applicable leave laws.
$65,500 - $80,000 a year
