Continuum Industries is on a mission to help the world accelerate the transition to a more sustainable future using Artificial Intelligence. We have developed Optioneer, an AI-powered tool that helps plan new infrastructure projects much faster, more sustainably and with lower risk. Since launch, we have supported over 40,000 km of new linear infrastructure; underground and subsea power cables, overhead transmission lines, hydrogen, and water pipelines. Optioneer is already used by enterprise infrastructure organisations such as; National Grid, BP, RWE, SSEN Transmission, Iberdrola and National Gas Transmission in the US, UK and Europe.

We’ve doubled in team size in the past year and we’re at a stage now where we’re ready for an outstanding Head of People and Operations professional to build the function. We already have some of the building blocks in place (HRIS, core policies, 360 performance reviews etc.) and you’ll have the autonomy to build and help enhance the end-to-end employee experience. 

As a generalist, you’ll love the variety in this role where you’ll own everything from onboarding to employee engagement initiatives to the people metrics that will help drive Continuum forward and everything in between. You’ll also have the opportunity to grow your team and determine a new hire who will report to you.

Key responsibilities:

    • Strategic HR Business Partner: Act as a strategic advisor to the leadership team on all people-related matters including levelling and team structure, coaching and feedback, employee relations, performance management, training and development, compensation benchmarking and benefits.
    • People Strategy Implementation: Develop and implement People strategies and initiatives that align with the overall business objectives and mission.
    • Hiring, Onboarding and Training: Manage the Talent Acquisition Lead and oversee onboarding and training across Continuum Industries to ensure teams are high-performing and that objectives are met.
    • Operational Excellence: Scale People and Operational processes that will support Continuum’s growth from 50 to 100+ employees, ensuring efficiency and consistency across the company. This may include optimising processes, workflows and existing People tech stack (such as Rippling, PeopleCheck, Lever, and Notion) to enhance the employee experience.
    • People and Operations Metrics: Own People metrics such as employee engagement and retention and provide data-driven insights to guide decision-making.

You'll bring:

    • Strong background as a generalist, scaling an early-stage startup as a Head of People and Operations, People Lead or Operations Lead.
    • Bias towards action and the ability to execute in a fast-moving, startup environment
    • Experience working with, and influencing Co-Founders and Senior Leadership on complex People and Operations strategy and initiatives.
    • Experience with a company that has expanded into other regions such as the US.
    • Strategic thinker with an analytical mind and strong problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to build authentic, trusting relationships with key internal stakeholders. 

Bonus points for:

    • Change management experience 
    • Experience building and leading a small team of People, Operations and/or Talent professionals.

Continuum Industries follows a hybrid work structure where employees can work remotely or from the office, as needed, based on demands of specific tasks or personal work preferences. Working from the office is encouraged for tasks that require a high degree of collaboration. We have offices in London UK, Edinburgh UK and New York City US!
