Conversant Group is an IT infrastructure and security consulting company founded in 2009 and based in Chattanooga, TN. We are the world’s first Civilian Cybersecurity Force, dedicated to defeating cyber terrorists. To do so, Conversant Group is organized into three battalions: Athena7 which provides infrastructure assessment, strategy and remediation, Grypho5 which offers ongoing managed protection, and Fenix24 which provides rapid restoration in case of a cyberattack.

The Principal Cloud Architect role will help craft, design, and structure robust, efficient, scalable, and highly-secure cloud-based solutions.  This key role will partner with teammates, architects, and subject matter experts to elevate our cloud maturity, as well as supporting the efforts of our sales, implementation and support operations. This role will report to the Chief Technology Officer.

An ideal candidate will be able to:
·        Manage all aspects of Conversant Group’s cloud systems and strategy.
·        Manage strategic decision making for the development and modification of cloud applications, including on IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms.
·        Track and maintain all aspects of Cloud Spend for all related services.
·        Drive collaboration with stakeholders during the development, launch, and refinement of products and solutions.
·        Drive collaboration with architects, engineers, and business and account executives to support sales, implementation, assessment, and support operations.

Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain expert level knowledge of public and private cloud industry, including Azure and AWS.
    • Represent the Cloud Operations team’s perspective in Practice Group committees.
    • Design, implement, and maintain compute reservation design, cloud procurement relationships, direct pricing agreements, private pricing agreements, and overall cloud FinOps strategy.
    • Manage Strategic cloud resource procurement relationships with multi-tenant design.
    • Manage cloud-native security tool stack.
    • Manage day-to-day operation of the cloud environment.
    • Ensure compliance with Conversant Group security standards and best practices.
    • Review cloud resource sizing and enhancements to make recommendations for improving/reducing cloud spend.
    • Collaborate on practice group operations, best practices, and service delivery methodologies.
    • Understand Conversant Group’s end goals and help create plans to achieve them.
    • Manage cloud security configuration to ensure secure access and continual hardening.
    • Manage cloud resources for optimization, consolidation, and tier/sizing analysis for storage and compute, with an eye towards managing cloud spend.
    • Manage and maintain cloud DR strategies. 
    • Lead a growing team of engineers in excellence and professionalism.
    • Draft, maintain, and be involved in the evolution of cloud related documentation.
    • Install, configure, and audit Conversant Group Cloud platforms and associated applications.
    • Solve highly complex engineering challenges while utilizing all levels of technical resources.
    • Consult on client satisfaction escalations and incidents.
    • Coordinate team technical escalations for client, vendor, and team members.
    • Review and consult on cloud related product, solution, and client change control requests.
    • Perform team product and service briefings regularly.

Preferred Skills

    • Demonstrated expert level expertise in advanced security management for Cloud Services.
    • Expert level knowledge of public cloud services, specifically Azure and AWS, including configuration management, security management, and overall platform management.
    • Consultative knowledge of public and private cloud infrastructure hardening.
    • Communicate effectively in any form or medium.
    • Manage dynamic and competitive priorities.
    • Organize complex technical tasks for multiple initiatives at once.
    • Conversant with information technology and managed services best practices.
    • Experience with service delivery in a managed services practice organization.
    • Practical application of InfoSec principles.

Qualifications

    • 3-5 years of cloud platforms management.
    • 7-10 years public and private cloud administrative experience.
    • Cloud FinOps experience with storage tiers, compute reservations, pricing plans, and intelligent tiering strategies.
    • Knowledge of native IAM configurations and access models for enterprise environments.
    • Knowledge of cloud resiliency strategies for always available infrastructure.
    • Cloud vendor certification (Azure, AWS, GCP) desired.
    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, related field, or equivalent work history.
    • Knowledge of cloud native security tooling and application.
    • Knowledge of enterprise public cloud pricing agreements.
    • Experience with reservation strategies inclusive of spot pricing, reserved instances.
    • Experience working for and within IT for the legal industry.
    • Experience in large scale service delivery.
