Who you are:
We’re seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead product strategy and execution for Copia’s Platform team. This role will own the foundational services, infrastructure, and shared capabilities that power all of Copia’s products—including authentication, permissions, enterprise readiness, and the full self-hosted Copia experience. This is a hybrid role that requires both deep technical empathy to shape developer-facing platform capabilities and customer-facing expertise to support enterprise accounts deploying and scaling Copia in their environments.
Who we are:
Copia Automation brings modern developer tools to industrial automation. Our product provides Git-based source control for automation professionals. We are a well-funded startup with a growing list of happy customers throughout the industrial space.
As a Copia employee, you’ll solve challenging, unique, and meaningful problems alongside passionate coworkers, while we change the way everything gets built.
Why industrial automation?
Today, manufacturing is powered by an ecosystem of computerized systems and robotics known as industrial automation. Special-purpose industrial computers called PLCs are used to automate factories, warehouses, and even amusement parks. This ecosystem is programmed with a unique graphical language that doesn’t work with typical developer tools such as GitLab or GitHub. Instead, automation professionals have to use physical storage devices, incompatible tools, and incomplete solutions. When minutes of downtime can represent tens of thousands of dollars, better development tools are urgently needed.
Copia Automation is rebuilding a 50-year old, $170-billion industrial market from the ground up by rethinking the command and control layer, and developer tools that power process automation in almost every industrial vertical. Backed by some of the world’s most respected investors, we’re starting by creating a complete developer toolchain for industrial automation that will change how factories are built.
What you'll do:
- Working with the Head of Product, you'll develop actionable hypotheses that guide our product initiatives, contributing to product roadmaps and strategy
- In partnership with engineering, you’ll prioritize and manage the project backlog in alignment with the product roadmap.
- You’ll work closely with engineering to define requirements and create specifications for new projects or features
- You will manage customer feedback channels and market research activities, using data to validate or adjust product iterations
- You will work cross functionally with marketing, success, and engineering for product launch planning. Own the platform roadmap: Define and prioritize initiatives that improve performance, reliability, security, and extensibility of Copia’s core platform
- Lead the self-hosted product experience: Be responsible for the installation, configuration, and ongoing deployment experience of Copia’s self-hosted offerings
- Drive cross-functional impact: Partner with other product teams (Source Control, DeviceLink, Copilot) to identify common platform needs and deliver shared solutions
- Scale enterprise readiness: Ensure Copia meets the requirements of large enterprise customers (e.g., SSO/IAM, compliance, scalability, observability)
- Customer & stakeholder engagement: Act as both an internal platform advocate and an external product expert, working directly with enterprise customers, solution engineers, and leadership
- Metrics & outcomes: Establish KPIs for platform adoption, reliability, and customer success with self-hosted deployments; measure impact on retention and customer satisfaction
What you'll need:
- You have 5-7 years of hands-on product management experience, with at least 2 years focused on platform or infrastructure products. Ideally, you have experience in fast-paced product organizations or high-growth startups
- You thrive in a startup environment and are resourceful, adaptable, and execution-driven
- You create clarity out of ambiguity
- You're an excellent communicator, skilled at aligning various stakeholders around immediate objectives and deliverables
- Your low ego makes you receptive to feedback and agile in adjusting plans
- You have experience delivering self-hosted, on-prem, or hybrid enterprise software
- You have strong technical acumen—you can engage deeply with engineering on infrastructure, deployment models, and system design tradeoffs
- You’ve proven your ability to translate technical capabilities into customer and business value
- You have experience working with enterprise customers and balancing requirements across security, compliance, and scalability
Nice to haves:
- Background in industrial automation, manufacturing systems, or OT/IT convergence
- Experience building or managing self-hosted SaaS platforms
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows, DevOps, or cybersecurity practices
- Familiarity with Kanban style Agile methodology
$152,000 - $195,000 a year
