CORE is in search of a Medical & Health Response Team Lead who will primarily direct our health and medical interventions during a broad array of emergencies throughout the United States, including but not limited to migration support on the border and response to natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, and wildfires. This role is centered on leading on-the-ground medical operations, conducting comprehensive health assessments, performing wellness checks, and managing the distribution of essential health supplies to communities in crisis. 
 
The Team Lead will engage directly in the frontline of medical service delivery, guiding team members in offering high-quality, compassionate care tailored to the specific needs of affected individuals. Whether addressing the complex health challenges faced by migrants at the border or providingmedical support in the aftermath of a natural disaster, this position demands a hands-on approach to medical leadership. The focus is on applying medical expertise in diverse emergency scenarios, ensuring swift, effective health interventions that make a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve. 
 
Roster work is available on an as-needed basis (it is not full-time or continuous).

Roster members may be called upon to deploy based on the specific needs arising from emergency situations, with the understanding that deployment opportunities and lengths may vary. Candidates should be prepared for rapid deployment, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to serve in various locations across the country as required. 
 
The ideal candidate will possesssignificant experience in emergency medicine or public health, with a track record of leading teams in delivering patient-centered care in high-pressure environments. This leader will not only excel in medical proficiency but also embody a deep humanitarian commitment, driving our mission to provide immediate and impactful health services during critical times of need. 

Responsibilities:

    • Collaborating with local government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and community-based organizations to ensure the effective delivery of medical services and essential supplies to all individuals in crisis situations 
    • Working closely with CORE's program and emergency response departments to align projects and activities with the organization's broader emergency response strategy, ensuring a cohesive and effective approach to aid delivery. 
    • Leading and managing a response team of 3-5 members, overseeing the implementation of activities while ensuring compliance with CORE's safety and security protocols as well as those of local authorities. This includes direct supervision of the Medical Assessment Team during deployments, ensuring that all medical interventions are carried out efficiently and compassionately. 
    • Conducting performance reviews, providing training to staff as necessary, and fostering a team environment that encourages professional growth and high performance. 
    • In coordination with CORE’s procurement department Identifying and securing the necessary goods and services for response team activities, including medical supplies and logistics for deployments. 
    • Preparing and submitting program reports,monitoring budgets and expenses to ensure efficient use of resources. 

Deliverables:

    • Establishing and maintaining a network of contacts among international and local NGOs, government entities, and other relevant organizations to facilitate collaboration and resource sharing. 
    • Providing regular reports on activities, progress, and challenges, with additional reports as requested by CORE leadership. 
    • Completing detailed reporting after each deployment, including outcomes, lessons learned, and recommendations for future responses. 
    • Developing procurement plans for materials and supplies needed for emergency responses, ensuring readiness for rapid deployment. 
    • Documenting key insights from interviews, discussions, and coordination meetings to inform ongoing and future emergency response efforts.

Scope and Travel:

    • Called upon in with short notice for deployments of 2-10 weeks as needed.

Qualifications:

    • BA/BSc in humanitarian studies or similar fields or relevant practical experience, MA Preferred.   
    • Medical training required.  
    • Medical admin experience preferred. 
    • Current CPR Certification   
    • Driver’s License with no significant infractions in the last 5 years

Experience:

    • A minimum of 3years’ experience in a clinical setting or humanitarian response field in a leadership role.

Skills & Competencies:

    • Excellent written and spoken English and Secondary language.  
    • In-depth knowledge of emergency medicine, public health principles, and hands-on experience with medical assessments, wellness checks, and possibly vaccine administration in diverse and challenging environments. 
    • Good communication skills and convincing presenter. 
    • Proven forward planning and strategic skills. 
    • Strong public relations skills and network building.  
    • Good training and facilitation skills. 
    • Strong leadership skills in high-stress situations.  
    • Understanding and appreciating diverse cultural backgrounds and sensitivities, ensuring that all interventions are respectful and appropriate to the communities served. 
$80,000 - $100,000 a year
This is a temporary assignment. Called upon in with short notice for deployments of 2-10 weeks as needed.   

In accordance with law, the expected pay range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
