We are seeking to hire an experienced individual to lead development of our Emergency ResponseVolunteer Program. 
 
The Emergency Response Volunteer Specialist will work with our Global People and Culture and Emergency Response Department to develop systems to utilize and build out an external volunteer roster to deploy in humanitarian and disaster operations. The Emergency Response Volunteer Specialist will lead development in tracking volunteer hours, deploying and communicating to roster members, maintaining an accurate roster of entire emergency staff, and deploying to disaster events to coordinate on-ground volunteers. The Emergency Response Volunteer Specialist will also onboard and assign training to new and existing roster members to ensure organizational readiness. 

Responsibilities:

    • Systems Development: 
    • In collaboration with the Director of Emergency Operations, spearhead the development and implementation of a volunteer and emergency staff deployment system, ensuring readiness and efficiency in response operations. 
    • Work closely with the Information Technology and Data Management departments to ensure the volunteer management system is robust, secure, and scalable.  
    • Ensure that the system supports real-time data access and reporting capabilities to enhance decision-making processes during emergency responses. 

    • Recruitment and Management: 
    • Lead the recruitment of volunteers for the emergency response roster, ensuring a diverse and skilled workforce. 
    • Manage the emergency response roster, providing training and capacity building to enhance their capabilities. 

    • Deployment and Coordination: 
    • Deploy to emergencies to coordinate volunteer activities and deployments, ensuring effective on-ground operations. 
    • Maintain ongoing communication with response leads and administrative personnel to understand and meet staffing needs for humanitarian operations. 
    • Liaise with various departments within CORE, including Global People and Culture, Safety, Emergency Operations, and Area Management, to ensure a cohesive and coordinated approach to emergency responses.

      Training and Development: 
    • Collaborate in the creation and regular update of training materials with the Global People and Culture, Safety, Emergency Response, and Area Management teams. 
    • Coordinate and assist in conductingtraining sessions for volunteers and staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge for effective deployment. 
    • Follow up with individuals who are non-responsive post-phone interviews or absent from scheduled training sessions, ensuring a high level of engagement and readiness among potential volunteers.

Scope and Travel:

    • Travel to U.S based emergencies as needed 

Qualifications:

    • Qualifications bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Humanitarian Aid, International Relations, Social Work, or related fields that offer foundational knowledge in crisis response, volunteer management, and organizational coordination. 
    • Minimum 3 years of work in emergency response or Volunteer Management preferred. 

Experience:

    • Proven experience in volunteer management, emergency operations, or a related field. 
    • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams in high-pressure environments. 
    • Excellent communication and coordination abilities, with experience working across multiple departments and teams. 
    • Flexibility to deploy to various locations in response to disasters and humanitarian crises. 
    • A commitment to CORE's mission and values, with a passion for making a difference in the lives of those affected by disasters. 

Skills and Competencies:

    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications 
    • Knowledgeable of Salesforce systems setup  
    • Knowledgeable of volunteer management tools 
    • Knowledgeable of volunteer tracking, deployment, and management methods 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
    • Strong project management, leadership and organizational skills 
    • Flexible and adaptive to a frequently changing environment 
    • Demonstrated ability to design and implement targeted recruitment strategies, leveraging community engagement and networking to build a skilled emergency response volunteer roster. 
    • Strong skills in fostering community relations, enhancing volunteer retention, and adapting recruitment approaches to diverse cultural contexts. 
$65,000 - $75,000 a year
In accordance with CA law, the expected pay range for this CA position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
