About the Altadena Build Club:
The Altadena Build Club (ABC) is a welcoming, accessible, and inclusive one-stop-shop for residents affected by the LA wildfires. Located in Altadena, the ABC provides centralized access to rebuilding guidance, disaster recovery resources, and community programming. CORE operates as both a direct service provider and a convener for trusted community-based partners, ensuring equitable access to the tools, resources, and expert support required to rebuild safely and sustainably. In addition to the ABC, CORE manages the Lincoln Lot Community Space, a flexible outdoor/indoor venue on Lincoln Avenue for community meetings, gatherings, showcases, and other public activities.

Position Overview:
The Community Concierge Associate serves as the first point of contact and concierge for survivors, partners, and visitors at the ABC. This highly customer-service-focused role ensures that every person entering the ABC feels welcomed, supported, and connected to the resources they need. The position manages visitor check-ins, responds to inquiries, supports scheduling, and assists with the ABC operations and events. The ideal candidate is warm, personable, proactive, and skilled at creating a positive, inclusive environment for the community.


Scope and Travel:


    • Concierge and Customer Service 
    • Serve as the welcoming face of the ABC, providing high-quality customer service and hospitality to residents, partners, and visitors. 
    • Actively engage with community members to understand their needs and connect them to appropriate staff, partners, or resources. 
    • Provide clear information about ABC programs, services, and events. 
    • Maintain a warm, inclusive, and professional environment in the reception area. 
    • Administrative Support & Scheduling Support 
    • Manage visitor check-ins and maintain accurate daily records. 
    • Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and route inquiries promptly and with empathy. 
    • Support scheduling of meeting rooms and spaces within the ABC. 
    • Assist with the preparation of materials, handouts, and meeting packets. 
    • Data & Record Keeping 
    • Track and log visitor inquiries, referrals, and service usage. 
    • Maintain up-to-date contact lists and program materials. 
    • Assist with data entry for attendance, surveys, and reporting. 
    • Event & Program Support 
    • Provide on-site reception and visitor support during workshops, events, and meetings. 
    • Assist with logistics such as signage, sign-in sheets, and distribution of program materials. 
    • Track attendance and collect participant feedback when needed. 
    • Operations & Supplies 
    • Monitor the front desk and reception areas, reporting maintenance or safety issues. 
    • Track and request supplies to ensure the ABC remains well-stocked. 
    • Coordinate with the Facilities/Operations Coordinator on facility-related needs.

Qualifications:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in communications, social sciences, or related field preferred.
    • Demonstrated commitment to humanitarian principles, equity, inclusion, and cultural sensitivity in community-facing roles.
    • Bilingual (oral and written) in English and Spanish required.

Experience:

    • Minimum 2 years’ experience in customer service, concierge, reception, or administrative support.
    • Experience working in a nonprofit, community center, disaster recovery, or public service environment strongly preferred.
    • Proven experience engaging with diverse and multicultural communities, providing warm and professional service.
    • Familiarity with community resources, social services, or disaster recovery programs in Los Angeles County is a plus.

    • Problem Solving: Resourceful and proactive in resolving visitor issues and connecting people to appropriate services.
    • Teamwork & Collaboration: Works effectively with colleagues, partners, and community organizations to ensure smooth operations.
$24 - $28 an hour
In accordance with CA law, the expected pay range for this CA position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
