The South Carolina Press Secretary will assist the State Communications Director in the development and execution of the South Carolina communications plan. They will work together to draft public facing materials including statements, press releases, advisories, and op-eds.

The SC Press Secretary will serve as the primary point of contact for local SC press, develop and execute press training for field staff, and assist in the planning and execution of in-state candidate and surrogate events. The Press Secretary will assist in staffing the candidate as-needed and will report to the SC Communications Director.

Responsibilities:

    • Assist the State Communications Director in the development and execution of the SC communications plan
    • Work with the SC Communications Director in drafting public facing materials, including statements, press releases, advisories, and op-eds
    • Develop and maintain relationships with in-state reporters
    • Develop and disseminate talking points for local supporters and surrogates on an as-needed basis
    • Develop and execute press training and necessary message materials for field staff
    • Provide support in advancing open press events, and with the planning and execution of other public events
    • Provide support for in-state and national press for all SC campaign events

Full-time, Exempt.

Compensation and Benefits.
Full-time, competitive salary including benefits such as 100%-employer-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance for all staff, spouses/domestic partners, and their children; employer-paid premiums for life insurance for all staff; 20 accrued paid days off each year; 12 weeks of paid parental leave, and 12 days accrued paid sick leave.
