The Group Creative Director, UI will be responsible for leading the design vision and elevating the craft of user interface and visual design across digital platforms. This role sits at the intersection of brand expression, interaction design, and product usability — requiring strategic vision, creative leadership, and a hands-on approach to execution.
You will ensure that every experience we create is both beautiful and functional — driving design excellence, enforcing design system standards, and maintaining a user-first perspective. You will lead multidisciplinary teams of UI designers, visual designers, and design system specialists, collaborating closely with UX, product, engineering, and marketing partners to bring the creative vision to life.
Responsibilities
- Set and drive the design vision for user interface and visual design across digital platforms, ensuring best-in-class aesthetic and functional excellence.
- Lead the creation and evolution of scalable design systems that balance consistency, flexibility, and brand expression.
- Oversee the design of user interfaces across a wide range of products and touch-points, from mobile apps to complex web platforms.
- Collaborate with UX, Product, and Engineering leadership to deliver seamless, human-centered digital experiences.
- Mentor and inspire a high-performing team of UI and visual designers, nurturing craft and creative growth.
- Champion design systems, accessibility best practices, and innovative design solutions.
- Leverage user research, usability testing, and data insights to inform design decisions and optimize user interfaces.
- Partner with stakeholders and clients to communicate the design vision and articulate the value of great design in driving business outcomes.
- Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning within the creative team.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in digital product design, with 5+ years in a creative leadership role focused on UI and visual design.
- Proven track record of delivering high-impact digital experiences at scale, with a portfolio demonstrating leadership across user interface design and visual systems.
- Expertise in modern design tools (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) and design system platforms.
- Deep knowledge of responsive design, mobile-first principles, motion design, and omni-channel ecosystems.
- Strong strategic thinking skills and the ability to translate brand, user, and business needs into cohesive visual experiences.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including UX, engineering, and product management.
- Advanced understanding of Human-Centered Design (HCD) and Design Thinking methodologies, especially as applied to visual and interaction design.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills to champion design excellence at the executive and client levels.
- Digital agency experience and background preferred.
$165,000 - $190,000 a year
The following salary band is scoped for the position. Final comp will be within this range and based on total related experience + geography.
