About the Role

As an Engineering Manager in our "How we service our partners" problem space, you will own the technical vision and execution for our next-generation partner portal. Your primary objective will be to lead a dedicated team in building a scalable, modular and enterprise-grade platform that redefines how Cover Genius services merchant partners.

To drive success in this role, you will have proven experience in people management, strong technical leadership in a modern microservices environment ideally with exposure to Next.js and Nest.js and a background in architecting highly reliable systems. As the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for mentoring and growing a team of talented engineers, guiding our technical strategy and executing our ambitious product roadmap. A key part of the role is to foster a culture of innovation, ownership and operational excellence.

Regular collaboration with internal product, engineering and partner-facing teams will be key in ensuring we achieve our goals. Your success will be measured by the team's ability to deliver a smarter, self-serve partner experience, achieve enterprise readiness with features like SSO and SCIM and empower other internal teams to build on our platform autonomously.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Drive the successful delivery of the product roadmap in "How we service our merchant partners" problem space, meeting key OKRs and milestones.
    • Own the technical vision and roadmap for delivering the Partner Portal, architecting a scalable and secure enterprise-grade system using Next.js and Nest.js.
    • Design and develop a modular platform that enables internal teams to build and deploy partner-facing features independently and rapidly.
    • Establish and enforce high standards for engineering and operational excellence, ensuring the platform meets high reliability targets.
    • Lead a team of engineers, fostering a culture of ownership, high performance and continuous growth in line with Cover Genius values.
    • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions that deliver exceptional partner experiences.

Skills & Experience: What you will bring:

    • Bachelor/Masters degree in Computer Science or Engineering with at least 5 years of software engineering experience and at least 2 years in leading and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
    • Strong technical background in building and maintaining complex, scalable systems, hands-on experience with our stack Next.js, Nest.js, TypeScript, is a significant plus.
    • Experience with modern software development practices including CI/CD pipelines, test automation, code quality tools.
    • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), managing workloads in Kubernetes.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Knowledge of insurance technology (insurtech) or fintech domains is highly advantageous, particularly experience with platforms that enable embedded financial services or B2B integration solutions.
