DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is currently looking for a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join their team at their Project Support Services Center located in Alexandria, Louisiana. The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is responsible for conducting visual inspections of welded products to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications. This individual is detail-oriented and plays a vital role in supporting quality control processes by thoroughly examining welds, identifying defects, verifying weld dimensions, and completing related documentation. The CWI collaborates closely with production and quality teams to uphold high standards and continuous improvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct visual weld inspections in accordance with AWS and applicable codes.
- Ensure that all welding work meets or exceeds project and customer requirements.
- Review and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and specifications to determine inspection criteria.
- Accurately measure and verify dimensions using tape measures, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Document inspection results, including non-conformance reports, weld maps, and weld logs.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all required inspection documentation is complete.
- Work collaboratively with welders, supervisors, and engineering to address and resolve weld quality issues.
- Provide feedback to production on quality issues and recommend improvements to welding processes.
- Promote and enforce safety standards and best practices.
- Participate in internal audits, quality projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Train and support less experienced team members on inspection practices and quality standards.
- Assist in maintaining calibration records and ensuring inspection equipment is in proper working order.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.
- Experience interpreting blueprints, welding symbols, and technical documents.
- Strong understanding of various welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, etc.) and materials, especially aluminum, preferred.
- Experience with dimensional inspection tools (tape measure, calipers, fillet weld gauges, etc.).
- Prior experience in quality control or inspection within a fabrication or manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to perform basic shop math (add/subtract fractions, decimals, whole numbers).
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Must demonstrate safe work practices and attention to detail.
