Beta Engineering is currently looking for a Substation Technician to join our team. Substation Technicians are responsible for producing physical design packages (including accurate electrical construction drawings and material lists) based on an electrical one-line diagram. The design package will meet all industry and customer standards providing all details necessary to construct the product seamlessly in the field. In addition to the adherence to standards and practices, the Substation Technician will be required to utilize subjective design principles to modify drawings, within specifications, to offer some visual appeal and continuity within the design.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the interpretation of one-line diagrams into 2D and 3D design packages using AutoCAD and other software among the members of the project team.
Leads the design and checking processes within the project team.
Communicates with Beta field personnel, product vendors, internal departments and customer representatives.
Assists in batch plotting, preparation and shipment of transmittal packages.
Delegates design responsibilities and activities within the project team.
Coordinates and problem solves issues between design teams and departments.
Answers technical questions posed by construction managers, field staff, customers and their representatives.
Recognizes and recommend methods to improve every customer’s experience.
REQUIREMENTS:
Vocational or technical certification or an Associate Degree in the engineering field is the minimum requirement.
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial, Civil or Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related field is preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years experience in high voltage substation design (including but not limited to: general arrangements, conduit design, grounding design, lighting design and material and equipment specification)
Strong background in Autocad, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required; strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
Knowledge of all or some of the following applications are preferred: Inventor and Microstation.

COMPENSATION:
$44,095 - $88,846 per year
Salary range is estimated. Actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications and application of any geographic salary differential.
