The Welder I must be capable of performing all welds needed on our structures and must understand instructions given in regard to the welds. This individual must be able to perform duties with speed and accuracy in order to produce a quality product and keep a steady flow of products. This position will frequently use calculating skills, by tape measure or other device. This position will use other moving machinery or equipment, including cranes, in order to manipulate steel structures.
$24.50 - $26 an hour

Works independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
Communicates regularly with supervisor about Department issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits.
· Positions, aligns, and welds parts to form complete structures, following blueprints and layout specifications, using machinery, welding torches, and hand tools.
Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade.
Examines steel or workpieces to be processed to ensure that specifications are met.
Moves parts safely into position; manually or with hoists or cranes.
Welds components in flat positions.
Operates manual welding equipment to fuse metal parts using the gas metal arc process.
Cleans welds with grinders and other equipment common to the welding trade.
Examines work pieces for defects and measures with weld gauges to ensure conformance with specification standard operating procedures.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· The Welder I will have no employees reporting to this position.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
· As assigned by Leadperson.
REQUIREMENTS FOR WELDER I:
· High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Ability to interpret blueprints required.
· Ability to read a tape measure required.
· Welding certification or prior welding experience preferred; GMAW experience preferred.
· Certifications or prior experience using moving machinery, such as cranes, preferred.
· Regular, reliable attendance is required.
