DIS-TRAN Steel is looking for an IT Specialist to join the team at the Pineville Plant. The IT Specialist for DIS-TRAN Steel is responsible for overseeing the daily performance of computer systems at the plant. This position will be responsible for answering user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operations in order to resolve problems.

- Works effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
- Works independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
- Communicates regularly with supervisor about Department issues.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the daily performance of computer systems.
- Answers user inquiries regarding computer software or hardware operations in order to resolve problems.
- Sets up equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
- Installs and performs minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
- Maintains records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities.
- Reads technical manuals, confers with users, or conducts computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems in order to provide technical assistance and support.
- Refers major software or hardware problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or a related field preferred.
- One to two years of related experience required.
- General technical knowledge of computer operating systems, including software and hardware, is required.
