The Assistant Construction Manager (ACM) supports the Construction Manager and project team in executing all phases of high-voltage substation projects. This position is part of a structured development program designed to build technical, safety, leadership, and communication competencies in the field. The ACM will be assigned to work under the mentorship of a Construction Manager on an active project site. During this period, the ACM will gain hands-on experience in managing subcontractors, maintaining project documentation, enforcing safety and quality standards, and supporting overall project execution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Gain knowledge of interpreting plans, reading specifications, reviewing scheduling, and reading subcontracts. 
•Demonstrates growing proficiency in applying construction techniques, managing subcontractor activities, and recognizing field-related risks and challenges.
•Maintains project documentation, including but not limited to, Daily Observation Reports, 3WLA tracking, and redlines.
•Verifies material compliance with project standards and approved submittals.
•Conducts quality and safety inspections with growing independence.
•Uses prescribed systems for reporting, communication, and task tracking.
•Supports coordination of subcontractor activities to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and safety standards.
•Assists with material tracking, delivery validation, and inventory documentation.
•Document and participate in daily project meetings, subcontractor coordination sessions, and site audits.
•Evaluates and discusses substation leadership and planning capabilities with CM. 
•Develops skills to lead field execution and subcontractor performance discussions with mentor support.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•The ACM will have no employees reporting to this position. 
•Additional duties as assigned by the Construction Manager on-site, Construction Manager Team Lead, or Manger of Construction Management 

EXPECTATIONS:
•This position requires company paid travel and accommodation from site to site. Travel requirement is roughly 100% of the time with periodic personal time granted by supervisor as business needs warrant. 
•Performs quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision. Interacts professionally with other employees and customers.
•Works effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
•Works independently while understanding the necessity for communication and coordinating work efforts with other employees, teams, subcontractors, and organizations. 
•Communicate regularly with supervisors about construction issues. 
•Beta Engineering’s representative on the construction site. Must display an attitude and attributes that positively reflect Beta’s values. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•A Degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related construction discipline is required.
•Experience in construction or field engineering is preferred but not required.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and PDF Editor.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
•This position requires work to be completed in the field 100% of the time. Please refer to the addendum “Working in the Field” for information about requirements and conditions to be met while working in the field.
•Able to lift 50 pounds
•Use of company vehicle. A successful Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) is required.
$50,000 - $80,000 a year
Salary range is estimated. Actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications and application of any geographic salary differential.
