As the second product design hire, you will have a huge impact both for our users and our culture. This includes everything from building statistics dashboards to interviewing users and identifying pain points. We believe in making product decisions based on data—both qualitative and quantitative. If you love identifying problems, sizing opportunities, optimizing funnels, and take pride in work that is clean & delightful, then you would love to work with us.
You will report to the Head of Design, who will be your advisor—but not your product manager. You will collaborate with your coworkers and reach out to users to set your product priorities. As the lead researcher, data-gatherer, wireframe-maker, and question asker, you will be expected to exercise your judgment and intelligence to determine both why and how we build products. You will share your work early and often, gather feedback from all sources (including engineering leads), and ultimately make the right choice for our users, without compromise. During the final stage of product design, you will add polish and delight to the UI, then collaborate with engineering and marketing to make sure your vision is realized.
Design at Crew
Designers are the glue that connects form to function, that takes a spark of passion to an effective work of beauty. It’s so much more than aesthetics—at Crew, we expect our designers to have a vision that transcends pixel pushing. This vision should inform our direction, from decisions on what we should build next to what sort of company we will become.
We are dreamers and big picture thinkers. We are not afraid to get our hands dirty—we do things because they are the right thing to do. We are Jacks and Jills of all trades, and masters of several. We are easily excitable, and feed off each others’ excitement to come up with great solutions. We push for things we are passionate about, and we back down when evidence shows another solution is better. We collaborate across product design, marketing, engineering, and sales to create work that we can all be proud of.
Crew is a messaging app that already helps thousands of businesses, schools, fire departments, and even sports leagues communicate with their teams all in one place. Managers and co-workers can easily perform fundamental day-to-day parts of their work on the app by sending messages, making announcements, swapping shifts, and assigning tasks. Today, these organizations are often using a combination of chaotic text message chains and paper to perform these actions. Crew instead presents a unified, powerful, and simple app-based solution. You can read more about what customers say they love about Crew in Apple App Store with 4+ stars and Google Play. We offer market rate salaries, generous equity as well as great benefits.
Crew is located 1 block from Montgomery St. Bart Station in a bike-friendly building in San Francisco with 24 hour access. 360º view of the city and the bay. Did we mention the view is amazing?
