As a member of our Data Service team, you'll work with other data teams to increase productivity, quality and safety for data analysts and engineers. We embed with other teams to understand their day-to-day challenges, and then provide tools, code patterns and processes that support standardization, automation and observability in their work. A Senior Data Engineer at Interwell Health provides hands-on coding with the ability to outline solution design with coding best practices and perform code reviews.
What you will do:
- Communicate ideas and work clearly – i.e. in the context of design discussions, planning documents and code reviews
- Must be able to stay on task, and to honor commitments to teammates and customers
- Understand the lifecycle of their work, and how to effectively collaborate in a codebase
- Prior work standing up automated data pipelines from “from scratch”; Airflow experience preferred
- Responsible for understanding the tools and systems we rely on beyond a surface level - candidates are expected to read design / architectural documentation, reviews source code for open source tools, etc.
What you need:
- 2+ years of hands-on experience working with Azure services such as Synapse and Blob Storage, or the equivalent products in AWS / Google Cloud
- 5+ years of hands-on experience doing data engineering work
- Experience data modeling and database operations experience – e.g. ability to design and create relational database entities, and to interact with databases and object stores
- Experience data analysis and manipulation skills – e.g. ability to write, troubleshoot and optimize SQL queries; ability to work with data exploration and transform tools, such as pandas or dplyr
- Have programming skills in one or more languages - e.g. Python, Java, Ruby, Scala, .Net/C#
- Experience standing up and administering data visualization tools (e.g.PowerBI, Tableau, Looker, Mode)
- Experience standing up and administering data modeling and ELT tools (dbt, SSIS, airflow, etc.)
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools - such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible
