By joining our rapidly growing Accounting Advisory Service Line (and working closely with our Private Equity Practice) you will serve as a trusted partner to our premier PE-backed clients. As a Director at CrossCountry Consulting you will be responsible for a mix of client delivery, leading teams and developing junior team members, as well as serving as a member of CrossCountry’s leadership team.

What You'll Do:

    • Lead engagement teams in navigating technical accounting, financial reporting, audit readiness, and corporate transactions within the Private Equity sector, liaising directly with Portfolio Company CFOs and Controllers, Operating Partners, Portfolio Support teams, Deal Teams at Private Equity funds, and our Private Equity practice
    • Provide expertise in handling intricate transactions, technical accounting standards, policy implementations, and operational accounting
    • Conduct thorough research and documentation of complex accounting issues, collaborating with client teams to integrate key technical accounting insights into the close process
    • Conduct assessments for IPO readiness and support clients in preparation for public offerings (S-1)
    • Offer guidance on nuanced accounting policies across various domains of US GAAP and/or IFRS, including business combinations (purchase accounting), consolidation (analysis of VIEs and determination of Primary Beneficiaries), derivatives, revenue recognition, lease accounting, impairment, troubled debt structuring, bad debt and loan loss methodologies, foreign currency accounting, and stock-based compensation, among others
    • Navigate matters related to audit and accounting with external auditors
    • Identify opportunities to simply and de-risk the financial reporting function
    • Business development initiatives by expanding accounts and cultivating relationships with existing clients

What You'll Bring:

    • 15+ years of related management consulting experience or a combination of consulting and industry experience with prior experience working with Private Equity Operating Partners and Private Equity-backed Portfolio companies
    • ‘Hands on Keyboard to Audit ready Delivery’, encompassing issue identification, data extraction, information analysis, determination of accounting treatment, journal entry preparation, and documentation of accounting rationales
    • Expertise in simplifying complex accounting topics for diverse audiences with varying levels of understanding
    • Strong understanding of US GAAP, covering a broad spectrum of topics, coupled with the ability to correlate US GAAP principles with financial reporting and key value drivers such as EBITDA
    • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting standards (US GAAP and/or IFRS) and the capacity to advise on or research complex technical accounting and transactional issues within the Private Equity domain
    • Consistent success in building and developing strong client relationships
    • Experience mentoring and developing junior team members and helping project teams resolve multi-faceted issues

Qualifications:

    • At least one of the following certifications: CPA, CIA, CFA, or CA
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field
    • Willingness to travel up to 40%; travel varies based on client preferences
