Our Director of Brand and Marketing Communications will be responsible for helping define and bring to life the Crunchbase brand. Reporting directly to the Head of Marketing, this person will manage a team of creative marketers and communicators. You’ll get to create the tools and guidelines that help all parts of marketing tell Crunchbase’s story, while running your own initiatives. Your team will help shape perceptions and build awareness for Crunchbase’s corporate brand through copywriting, design, public relations, influencer management, events, and executive communications.

As the Crunchbase Director of Brand and Marketing Communications, you will:
• Own awareness and perception of the Crunchbase brand among our target audience segments
• Manage and grow a team of copywriters, designers, and PR professionals who will help in that mission
• Ensure team partners with cross functional teams in marketing, product, and design
• Help create messaging, ad copy, creative, thought leadership, and PR pitches
• Develop an editorial strategy of corporate marketing that drives the content creation, PR outreach for brand-level thought leadership
• Create the copywriting engine that powers the marketing team’s direct response channels including email and advertising
• Build a public relations strategy that establishes relationships with tier 1 media and secures coverage
• Develop a plan for global brand expansion including identifying key market needs and how our brand will flex to those audiences
• Partner with the director of digital marketing to ensure that all marketing web properties including our consideration landing pages, blog, and in-product ad copy, amplify the brand
• Find new, innovative, ROI-positive, and cost efficient ways to bring Crunchbase’s brand to life
• Build an events strategy that will ensure we drive ROI among our top audience segments
• Create an influencer marketing strategy in partnership with our data team, working with entrepreneurs and venture capitalists who rely on Crunchbase
• Select and manage agencies to support PR and creative functions

• 8+ years overall PR/Marketing/Communications experience
• Experience recruiting and nurturing top talent, and a track record of cultivating a high performance environment that builds engaged teams
• Be a hybrid creative and analytical thinker who can help teams come up with innovative ideas and measure their impact for the company
• Proven ability to drive PR for technology startups/entrepreneurs
• Experience in strategic communications, including message development and strategic positioning
• Familiarity with Social and Content Marketing best practices
• Demonstrated excellence in writing, storytelling, and content creation
• Existing relationships with target media is a plus
• Strong communicator with ability to synthesize messages to audiences at all levels inside the company and out
• Ability to develop and present strategy, plans and creative briefs that unite teams behind shared vision
