Position Overview
As a Distribution Supervisor at Sur La Table, you are responsible for leading and coordinating daily operational activities within an assigned department of the Distribution Center (DC). This role ensures the effective execution of inbound or outbound workflows on a shift, supports continuous process improvement efforts, and upholds safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
·         Execute and oversee daily/weekly work plans to support Distribution Center operational goals.
·         Ensure execution of standard operating procedures (SOPs), productivity goals, and quality benchmarks across departments and shifts.
·         Monitor departmental KPIs and performance outputs during assigned shift to ensure operational continuity.
 
Team Development & Performance Management
·         Supervise hourly associates across assigned functions (i.e. receiving, picking, packing, or shipping)
·         Lead, coach, and inspire associates to exceed performance expectations and uphold a positive team culture.
·         Support new hire onboarding and contribute to building a positive and inclusive team culture.
 
Business Performance
·         Lead daily pre-shift start-up meetings to communicate performance goals, operational updates, and progress toward KPIs.
·         Identify inefficiencies in processes or workflow and propose or implement practical improvements.
·         Collaborate with peers and Operations leadership on cross-functional improvements.
 
Operations & Compliance
·         Promote and enforce a culture of safety and compliance with OSHA and internal safety policies.
·         Ensure accurate inventory management and protection of company assets.
·         Assist with maintaining the accuracy and integrity of associate records, including but not limited to time and attendance data and personal information.
·         Adhere to applicable wage and hour laws. Accurately records time worked according to SLT Policy.
·         Models and ensures all Sur La Table policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are communicated effectively to associates, maintained and consistently followed.
 
Physical Requirements
·         Ability to communicate verbally and work cooperatively with employees, customers, and vendors.
·         Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced warehouse environment
·         Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time
·         Ability to regularly lift and/or move merchandise weighing up to 35 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs
·         Ability to grab, reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crouch in order to retrieve and/or replenish merchandise
·         Ability to ascend and descend stairs in order to retrieve and/or move merchandise
·         Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and variable shifts as needed
·         Must be able to work in a physical warehouse environment that may include noise, temperature fluctuations, and mobile equipment.
 
Qualifications & Experience
·         Must be 18 years of age or older at the time of employment.
·         2–4 years of supervisory experience in a distribution, warehouse, or manufacturing environment preferred
·         Proficient in warehouse management systems (WMS), MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
·         Demonstrated ability to lead large teams in high-volume, multi-shift, deadline-driven environments.
·         Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·         Proven ability to influence change and drive measurable results.
