Cloud computing platforms are heavily in use today in various forms (public cloud, hybrid cloud, private cloud). This study aims to examine hybrid and private cloud setups (which can include software stack, hypervisor layer, etc.) for potential security weaknesses that could lead to data leakage or system compromise.

Scope & Deliverables

    • Investigate one of various forms of hybrid/private cloud setups from different providers and examine them for common weak configurations or security weaknesses that could lead to violation of data access control, or system access.
    • Demonstrate how security issues found in (1) could lead to real-world security compromises through a proof-of-concept.

Prerequisites/Skills Required

    • Proficient in C/C++/assembly language
    • Good understanding of computer architecture, and mainstream operating systems including Windows and/or Linux/Unix
