Sr. Design Engineer - ASIC & FPGA (6 mo Contract-to-Hire)

DAQRI is currently searching for a Sr. Design Engineer to work on the ASICs and FPGAs that run our augmented reality hardware. This role will work on a small team, based in Austin, TX and report to our VP of Electrical Engineering.


    • Participate as a member of a small technical team of ASIC/FPGA designers to design augmented reality hardware
    • Assist the project lead to establish development project plans and manage them to completion
    • Derive specification based on system requirements utilizing optimal engineering design principles
    • Performing analysis of 3rd party IP's for ASIC/FPGA integration
    • Develop RTL utilizing a hardware description language
    • Debug design with simulation tools
    • Develop verification plans and perform functional verification
    • Perform synthesis, place and route, and timing closure (FPGA)
    • Perform front-end design tasks and support foundry backend development activities (ASIC)
    • Support technical reviews and be able to present to internal and external customers


    • Knowledge of ASIC/FPGA development, augmented reality technologies, and their challenges
    • MS in Electrical Engineering
    • 6+ years of relevant industry experience
    • Fluency in VHDL with experience in Verilog or fluency in SystemVerilog with experience in VHDL
    • Experience with High-Level Synthesis
    • Proficiency in Vivado, Quartus Prime
    • Proficiency in Modelsim or Questasim
    • Experience with SoC interfaces and standard buses
    • Experience with Cadence Design toolset to review schematics that contain microprocessor, FPGAs, high-speed transceivers, DDR and flash memories and create block diagrams and design review packages for complex electronics
    • Hands-on experience in testing of products using logic analyzer, high-speed oscilloscopes, signal generators, and FPGA debugging tools
    • Experience with hardware design in an Agile environment
    • Familiarity with revision control concepts and tools
    • Ability to work with the Microsoft Office and Google suites of documentation
