dbt Labs is a distributed organization with team members across the US and in 11 countries globally. We entered into 2020 with a hybrid team and had already adopted some remote-first practices. Since then, we have scaled from 20 to 350 and we’re looking for a distributed experience leader to lead the enhancement and codification of our distributed work strategy. This role will partner with cross-functional leaders to improve the way we design our organizations and grow our people in our distributed environment.

Our ideal candidate is passionate about distributed work. They should be an excellent problem solver and clear strategic thinker with outstanding communication and writing skills.

In this role, you can expect to:

    • Spearhead the creation of a high performance distributed working culture by developing asynchronous operating guidelines, norms, and policies for the company.
    • Develop and facilitate learning & development programs across the entire employee lifecycle to build a culture of learning & development for a distributed workforce.
    • Direct training and up-skilling of newly-remote managers and coach them on unlearning old approaches by refining their mastery of asynchronous workflows.
    • Build a shared understanding of our internal tool stack and how to capitalize on asynchronous workflows.
    • Ensure we have the right tools and systems in place to support our global team.
    • Own the story around dbt Lab’s distributed culture and transparent work philosophy that is changing the future of how people work.
    • Understand that our people come first and everything we do is to make their experience better
    • Document and evangelize our distributed culture to employees and to the outside world, helping us recruit and retain high performers from across the globe.

You are a good fit if you have:

    • Experience working in related roles (e.g. people/culture operations, internal communications, project management, Chief of Staff)
    • Prior experience working for a distributed or remote company.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Journalism background a plus.
    • Demonstrated history of developing new initiatives and gaining consensus with executive-level stakeholders.
    • Passion for the benefits of distributed work.

You'll have an edge if:

    • Experience setting policies for a remote workforce
    • Experience working at a high-growth technology company
    • Experience working on projects with high-degree of ambiguity

Compensation & Benefits

    • Salary: $180,000 - $220,000
    • Equity Stake
    • Benefits: In the US, dbt Labs offers unlimited vacation (and yes we use it!), 401k w/3% guaranteed contribution, excellent healthcare, paid parental leave and a home office stipend. For employees outside the United States, dbt Labs offers a competitive benefits package.
