About the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office

The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) is a Principal Staff Assistant (PSA) responsible for the acceleration of the adoption of data, analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate decision advantage across the Department of Defense (DoD). The Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC), Defense Digital Services (DDS), Chief Data Office (CDO), and forward-leaning programs of record including Advana have officially joined together to form one organization – the CDAO!

Roles and Responsibilities

    • Designing, developing and maintaining machine learning products that meet customer specifications.
    • Design, build, and deploy software in various cloud environments.
    • Consulting with managers and stakeholders to determine machine learning objectives.
    • Researching and experimenting with new, suitable machine learning algorithms, architectures, and tools.
    • Developing machine learning algorithms to analyze large data sets to enable  prescriptive and predictive inference.
    • Integrate disparate datasets to enable machine learning models
    • Utilize SOTA open source machine learning frameworks and libraries.
    • Testing, analyzing, and interpreting model results to determine the value of models to users over baseline performance.
    • Keeping documentation of machine learning best practices.

Technical Experience

    • 3+ years of experience working as a Machine Learning Engineer.
    • Proficiency in Python.
    • Experience using SQL/NoSQL databases and data stores for specific use cases.
    • Skilled in using big data frameworks such as Spark & Snowflake
    • Experience working with machine learning frameworks like Pytorch & Tensorflow
    • Extensive and deep knowledge of Machine Learning practices, libraries, data structures, use cases, and software architecture.
    • A passion for statistics and mathematics, with good communication skills to be able to explain complex ideas and concepts into easy-to-understand conversations.
    • Outstanding problem-solving skills with an analytical approach to work.
    • Experience leading data product deployments
    • Extensive experience working with services for at least one cloud provider
    • Experience with the MLOps lifecycle

Key Requirements

    • U.S. Citizenship.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
