Dealerware’s team is hiring a Data Engineer to help build our new cloud-native automotive data platform. This new platform will use current data pipelining and streaming technologies on AWS, and will combine data from our SaaS Dealerware platform, fleet telematics, and third party data sets to drive embedded real-time analytics in our application.  The Data Engineer will also help to optimize the SaaS application and to build integrations with other technology partners in the automotive data sphere.

As a Data Engineer, you will:

    • Build a streaming data platform on AWS
    • Source internal and external data via CDC, streaming, and batch process
    • Create a scaling data lake, with modern data access controls and governance
    • Model and populate purpose-specific data consumption zones
    • Automate data quality
    • Deliver analytics, reports, and dashboards to internal and external users
    • Build shared services with Terraform
    • Optimize Parquet data on S3 for performance, cost, and scalability
    • Create and maintain scalable infrastructure leveraging modern AWS products 
    • Develop pipelines in our CI/CD systems on CircleCI 
    • Maintain expertise in current and emerging technologies and tools
    • Support and troubleshoot issues across the environment
    • Manage database deployments including schema changes

Required qualifications:

    • 3+ years of experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment (CI/CD)
    • 5+ years of experience with Python and SQL
    • 3+ years of experience with Git as a version control system
    • 3+ years with BI tools such as Looker, QuickSight, Tableau, or PowerBI
    • 3+ years of experience with Athena, Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or similar query engines
    • Experience with monitoring and logging solutions such as Cloudwatch or Datadog
    • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform
    • Experience with Event-based Architectures, and tools such as Kafka or Kinesis
    • Experience optimizing cost on consumption-based services such as AWS or Snowflake
    • Experience with AWS Lambdas or Step Functions

Even better if you have:

    • Experience with data orchestration tools
    • Experience with Snowflake data sharing and replication
    • Experience with the following types of DevOps tools:
    • Continuous Integration tools (ideally CircleCI or Github Actions)
    • Application Performance Monitoring (DataDog)
    • Strong DevOps principles and standards
    • Experience with Avro, schema evolution, and schema registries
    • Experience with data catalog tools, such as Alation
