Job Summary:
As the General Counsel for DeleteMe, you will provide legal advice, ensure regulatory compliance, manage legal risks, and develop privacy policies to protect user data. You will play a critical role in shaping the company's legal strategy and safeguarding its privacy commitments.

Corporate Governance
Board Support: Advise the board of directors on legal matters, corporate governance best practices, and fiduciary responsibilities.
Corporate Records: Maintain corporate records, including minutes, bylaws, and shareholder agreements.
Equity Management: Oversee equity issuance, stock option plans, and cap table management.
Contract Management
Customer Contracts: Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS agreements, including Master Service Agreements (MSAs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and Data Processing Agreements (DPAs).Vendor Contracts: Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors, suppliers, and partners.
Partnership Agreements: Handle legal aspects of strategic partnerships and collaborations.
Compliance and Regulatory Matters
Data Privacy: Ensure compliance with data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and advise on data protection practices. Act as Data Protection Officer.
Industry-Specific Regulations: Monitor and ensure compliance with industry-specific regulations, such as fintech, healthcare, or other vertical-specific requirements.
Employment Law: Oversee employment law compliance, including drafting employment agreements, managing disputes, and handling issues related to employee classification.
Subsidiaries: Manage initial incorporation and ongoing requirements of foreign subsidiaries as required.
Intellectual Property (IP) Management
 IP Portfolio: Manage the company's intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights.IP Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to protect the company’s IP assets.
Litigation Management: Handle IP-related litigation or disputes, including cease-and-desist letters, licensing, and infringement claims.
Risk Management and Litigation
Litigation Oversight: Manage and oversee any litigation, disputes, or claims involving the company.
Risk Assessment: Conduct legal risk assessments related to new products, services, or markets.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)
Transaction Support: Lead or support legal due diligence in M&A transactions, including drafting and negotiating purchase agreements.
Integration: Assist in the legal aspects of post-merger integration, such as contract assignments and employment issues.
Policy Development and Training
Internal Policies: Develop and implement internal policies related to legal, regulatory, and compliance matters.
Training: Conduct training for employees on legal and compliance issues, such as anti-harassment, data privacy, employee stock option plan, and IP protection.
Strategic Advisory
Executive Support: Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and executive team, providing guidance on legal and business strategy as well as product development.
Growth Initiatives: Support growth initiatives, including new market entries, product launches, and international expansion.
Regulatory Affairs
Government Relations: Manage relationships with regulatory bodies and government agencies; build up and manage lobbyist program in collaboration with CEO and close alignment with revenue organizations. 
Compliance Monitoring: Stay up-to-date with changes in relevant laws and regulations, and ensure the company’s compliance 
External Counsel Management
Engagement: Manage relationships with external legal counsel, including selecting and retaining law firms for specialized matters.
Cost Management: Oversee legal budgets and manage legal costs effectively.

Qualifications

    • Juris Doctor degree from a reputable law school.
    • Minimum 10 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on data privacy, technology, or corporate law.
    • Strong understanding of privacy laws and regulations, particularly GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment is preferred.
$210,000 - $310,000 a year
