Deloitte New Zealand's M&A Tax team are widely regarded as experts and leaders in their field. We are looking for Consultants or Senior Consultants to join our Auckland-based team. You will be a tax professional wanting to take the next step in your career with a leading brand.
As part of the M&A Tax team you will primarily be involved in a number of transactions and M&A projects, and will assist with tax due diligence, investment structuring, and post-transaction integration for a wide variety of domestic and international clients. You will also be responsible for working on and managing a portfolio of clients.
You will develop effective business relationships with clients, deliver outstanding tax advice, exceed your client’s expectations and partner with their businesses to execute transactions and become an integral part of their growth.
We are a high-performing team in a fast-paced and challenging environment, and are exposed to some of the most interesting tax work you will find. If you are looking for an exciting career in tax working on the most complex and high-profile transactions, we are the team for you.

You will demonstrate and develop your capabilities in the following areas:

    • Delivering exceptional client service; working with bankers, lawyers and global Deloitte offices to maximise results, drive high performance and foster collaboration.
    • Advising on a wide range of matters across the M&A lifecycle (sell-side & buy-side), including due diligence, investment structuring, and post-transaction integration.
    • Leading by example and establishing confident relationships with senior people.
    • Applying knowledge of New Zealand tax and the M&A lifecycle to achieve commercial objectives.
    • Fact-based decision making, using the appropriate research techniques and skills.
    • Improving work efficiency, effectiveness and client service by using common technology tools.

About you:

    • At least 2+ years’ tax experience (either in house or in professional services).
    • An undergraduate qualification in law and/or accounting.
    • A strong understanding of end-to-end tax processes and a core tax technical skillset.
    • Excellent team player and communication skills.
    • Results driven & client oriented.
    • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and conflicting priorities.

We take our coaching seriously and have a strong focus on helping our people achieve their potential and advance their careers. In addition, our team enjoys the benefit of internal training courses as well as support for external courses and conferences.

We are innovative and different, and we are proud of our team of diverse, high-performing Deloitte professionals who are talented, supportive, inclusive and social - and who are at the heart of our success. Our aim is to ensure that all of our people feel comfortable to bring their whole selves to work and, as a result, create a workplace that encourages the true spirit of 'and different'.

From day one you will be considered part of the Deloitte community, and our development and career progression framework will help you develop the skills and capabilities you need to succeed - in every sense of the word.

You will be rewarded with a competitive salary, healthcare, flex-working and a range of benefits that you would expect from one of the world's leading professional services brands.

However, given the changing nature of the pandemic, we do reserve the right, following a Health & Safety Risk Assessment, to require that a role be performed by a person vaccinated against COVID-19 to minimise the health and safety risk to our people therefore ongoing collection of vaccination status will be important for managing future risks.
