The Role
Our team is looking for a US Payroll and Compensation Specialist to manage the US payroll function and support the development and implementation of compensation strategies. This role also plays a key part in compensation benchmarking, salary structuring, and supporting equitable pay practices across the organization.
The USA Payroll and Compensation Specialist will oversee the entire payroll process, including salary adjustments, verifying timesheets, calculating wages, and ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing. In partnership with the People Team, they will also be responsible for compensation administration including job benchmarking, auditing compensation data, survey submissions, and ensuring compliance with compensation regulations. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong mathematical, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey complex information in an easily understandable manner.
The ideal candidate is forward thinking, analytical and methodical, with extensive experience in payroll processing and administration and an expert in their field. Your goal will be to ensure payroll procedures are current, compliant and efficient. You will own the systems necessary to process payroll including Rippling alongside our various benefits platforms and work closely with the Finance & Accounting team in Sydney, Australia as well as our People team in the US .
Responsibilities
- Accurate processing of semi-monthly payroll for all US employees across multiple states in Rippling - including salary adjustments, timesheet auditing, benefits and related deductions
- Primary point of contact for all employee payroll inquiries
- Review of payroll to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Partnering closely with the People and HR team members to coordinate employee compensation updates, benefits administration, new hires, separations, and data changes
- Timely and accurate tax filing and reporting - preparing and submitting state and federal payroll taxes and report as well as managing year-end reporting and W-2 distributions
- Ensures payroll processing is in full compliance with country, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Ensure benefits deductions are accurately reflected in payroll.
- Staying up to date with changes in the US legislation that may impact payroll procedures and updating and collaborating with other internal stakeholders to update processes accordingly.
- Conducting routine payroll audits to ensure accuracy of information
Requirements & Qualifications
- 5+ years of proven experience as a payroll manager or similar role
- Proven experience in payroll and compensation administration, preferably in a similar role with both hybrid payroll processing and compensation administration.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of payroll software (e.g., Rippling, ADP, Paychex) - Experience working with Rippling would be advantageous
- Advanced knowledge of payroll and compensation procedures and related laws in the U.S. and practical experience with processing payroll for employees within these states
- Experience working with global teams across the APAC time zones
- Experience with Netsuite would be advantageous
$132,000 - $148,500 a year
The salary range for this position takes into account multiple factors that are all considered to determine an individual candidate’s starting pay. These factors include but are not limited to: market factors, experience, technical and non-technical skills, education, certifications, and other business acumen. This range does not include any potential incentive programs, such as individual or organizational performance bonuses.
