Descartes Labs is looking for a talented and driven Help Desk Engineer to join us as a member of the rapidly growing Commercial Engagement Team. You should have a passion for creating client value, cutting edge technology and the world of big data. Descartes Labs is building the geospatial data platform of the future that enables world class analysis at global scale. In this position, you’ll work with data science teams from around the world to ensure their success with our software. You’ll be an advocate for our technology and help transform the way our customers utilize geospatial data in their companies.

Roles and Responsibilities

    • Maintain a support ticket queue and respond to customers to ensure their success with the Descartes Labs Platform
    • Use written and verbal communication with our customer base to resolve software issues
    • Be a champion for the customer and influence product direction through customer experiences and feedback
    • Build internal relationships between Product, Engineering and Commercial Engagement to help communicate the needs of our customers
    • Be independent and adaptable
    • Help to improve our internal processes so that we increase efficiency and the effectiveness of our support


    • 2+ years of experience in a technical support role
    • Ability to craft messaging to resonate with users from different backgrounds and across industry segments
    • Nimble in meetings with current and prospective customers
    • Intermediate programming skills with Python 
    • Experience with cloud computing and microservices architecture
    • Data science experience
    • Geospatial experience, particularly with relevant software (GDAL, Esri/ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine)
    • Experience with JIRA is a plus
