About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced, hands-on, Staff Electrical Engineer to join Dexterity’s Hardware Product team. As a Staff Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design and lifecycle of electrical systems for robotic automation products. You will oversee system architecture, mentor engineers, develop test plans, prototype designs, and support initial builds and installations. You would be a crucial player in driving innovation, ensuring product reliability, and enhancing the scalability and cost-effectiveness of our solutions.


Accountability
Lead the architecture and design of electrical systems for robotic automation products, ensuring reliability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
Own the electrical and electronic systems through their life cycle, from conception to volume manufacturing, including design reviews, implementation, and product release.

Responsibilities
Serve as the technical subject matter expert for electrical and electronic systems, mentoring and guiding engineers on best practices
Develop and execute electrical test plans to validate system performance.
Prototype and test electrical systems to assess performance and identify design issues.
Ensure design for signal integrity, reduced noise interference, and effective grounding practices for optimal system performance.
Write and maintain electrical design standards and documentation, clearly communicating design considerations and trade-offs.
Support initial product builds at contract manufacturers (CMs) and early installations at customer facilities, including troubleshooting and training.

Qualifications
MS/PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
Proven experience leading the development of complex products from conception through design, development, and volume manufacturing.
Expertise in circuit and board design, including analog circuits, digital logic, high-speed signals, filtering, high-voltage circuits, component selection, electrical schematics, and PCB layout.
Proficiency with electrical simulation and design tools such as MATLAB and SPICE.
Skilled in troubleshooting control systems, PCBAs, and electrical system issues.
Experience with motors, servo drivers, sensors, communication protocols (EtherCAT, CANBUS, etc.), robot arms, and controllers.
Proficiency in power electronics design (motor drives, SMPS, inverters) and battery-powered systems design.
Experience collaborating with off-shore subcontractors, vendors, and global contract manufacturers.
Familiarity with lab test instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, DC loads, power supplies, and spectrum analyzers.
Experience with hardware product certification processes, best design practices for compliance, and standards (FCC, NFPA 79, UL, CE, IEC).
Experience with PLM systems (Arena, Agile, Teamcenter) for daily development lifecycle management.
Strong communication and technical skills, with the ability to lead and direct the electrical system development efforts autonomously.
Capable of managing multiple projects and working with global engineering teams with great attention to detail.
Quick learner, able to translate new knowledge into execution autonomously.

Base pay is one element of our Total Rewards package which may also include comprehensive benefits and equity etc., depending on eligibility. The annual base salary range for this position is from $160,000 to $185,000. The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as years of relevant experience, skills, education etc. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
