The Democratic Governors Association (DGA), the campaign committee responsible for electing and supporting Democratic Governors, is seeking a Financial Operations Assistant. This individual will report to the Director of Accounting and Budgeting and the Compliance Director and provide support to DGA’s Financial Operations Department while also assisting across the entire organization. This position will require going into the DGA’s office located in Washington, DC on a regular basis. 

The expected salary for this position is $51,500 annually before benefits and applicable withholdings. Primary Responsibilities

• Assist the Compliance Director with managing reporting schedules for 30-40 unique organizations that file with the FEC, IRS, and/or individual state reporting bodies;
• Assist the Director of Accounting and Budgeting in managing the review of monthly employee expense reports and compliance;
• Assist in managing contribution and expenditure data entry for accounting and reporting databases across many revenue streams and bank accounts;
• Assist the Finance and Operations teams with regularly reviewing donor correspondence and documentation needs;
• Assist with document retention for the compliance department;
• Maintain up-to-date disclosure data for contributors; 
• Help with other special projects, assignments, and tasks as assigned by the Director of Accounting and Budgeting, Compliance Director, Chief Financial Officer and/or DGA’s Legal Counsel.

Desired Qualifications

    • Extremely strong attention to detail;
    • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, etc;
    • Strong verbal and written intra-office communication skills;
    • Ability to work efficiently and autonomously;
    • Must be comfortable with long, irregular hours during peak seasons;
    • Excellent punctuality and attendance;
    • Ability and willingness to work from the office in DC on a regular basis.

Desired Attributes

    • Strong proficiency using the Internet as a research tool;
    • Experience receiving, cleaning and standardizing large sets of data;
    • Ability to learn new computer software quickly and teach others;
    • Strong commitment to social justice and Democratic principles;
    • Strong interest in current events and national/state/local campaigns, and politics; 
    • NGP/VAN experience is a plus.

The DGA offices are based in downtown Washington, DC. The DGA will work with top candidates to schedule a remote interview, if necessary. The duties and demands of this job require in person work at the DGA’s offices, and the Financial Operations Assistant is expected to coordinate with the Director of Accounting and Budgeting and Compliance Director to determine an in-office work schedule that will likely include 3 to 4 days of in-office work, per week. In-office expectations may vary over the course of the year, including a 5-day a week expectation.
