Who We Are:

At Digital Matter, we’re a smart, fast, and nimble next-gen consulting firm built for today’s challenges. Our team is made up of media, retail, and technology experts who’ve built and executed, not just advised - people who’ve run companies, navigated real transformations, and know what it takes to deliver results. We’re all about helping consumer brands unlock growth and navigate transformation, using media as a true business asset—powered by data and future-ready tech.

Our mission is simple: treat media as an asset class and use innovative technology to accelerate meaningful growth and transformation for our clients.

We’ve helped multiple organizations go public, and we’ve guided clients through everything from bankruptcy turnarounds to successful exits.

About the Role:

We’re looking for a highly skilled and entrepreneurial Senior Data Engineer to become a founding member of our in-house product team. While much of our internal data infrastructure will be built from the ground up, you’ll also work closely with our proprietary algorithms and existing analytic models, helping to scale and strengthen these critical assets.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role. You’ll be responsible for designing and implementing a scalable data architecture while collaborating with offshore consultants. You’ll lay out the technical foundation for our analytics, reporting, and product evolution—and help shape the future of the data team as it grows.

What You’ll Do:

• Architect and build scalable, fault-tolerant ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest and transform data from multiple sources into data warehouses and lakes.

• Design, implement, and optimize data models and storage layers for performance, scalability, and quality.

• Develop complex SQL queries and Python scripts to support transformation and automation workflows.

• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to scale and enhance the performance of our existing proprietary algorithms and related models.

• Partner with offshore consultants and internal teams to ensure consistency, accuracy, and availability of data.

• Define and implement best practices for data governance, security, and quality.

• Own data infrastructure documentation and establish foundational processes for future team scaling.

• Contribute to the technical roadmap, identifying tooling, architecture decisions, and long-term platform direction.

What You’ll Bring:

• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, with hands-on experience building and maintaining modern data pipelines.

• Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative field.

• Expert-level SQL skills with demonstrated experience writing complex queries, optimizing performance, and working across large-scale relational and cloud data environments.

• Strong programming skills in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Scala, or Java).

• Experience with both relational and non-relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DynamoDB).

• Experience with cloud data platforms such as AWS (S3, Redshift, Glue), Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks.

• Familiarity with big data tools (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Hadoop).

• Version control experience (e.g., Git).

• Strong communication skills and the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

• Comfortable working autonomously and navigating ambiguity in a startup-like environment.

• Experience collaborating with or managing technical work streams with offshore or external teams.

Nice to Have:
• Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines for data workflows.

• Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and basic data analysis.

• Exposure to streaming data technologies.

• Background in data governance and/or Master Data Management (MDM).

• Experience collaborating with offshore teams or managing vendor-based reporting workflows.

The salary range posted is reflective of base salary, which will be determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications. You will also be eligible for equity and benefits.
