The Senior Software Release Manager will lead the Release Management Lifecycle, including scheduling, coordinating, and
managing enterprise-wide releases for multiple applications across various portfolios. The releases will enable delivery of new features, application updates, security improvements,
projects, and programs.
This role will also provide tools and services to empower DevOps and Production Support teams in the management and deployment of releases into production, as needed.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for implementing and managing release processes for code, from development and testing to production deployments. The Release Manager works collaboratively with all participants in the software development
lifecycle including Software Developers, Testers, DevOps, Production Support, Change Management, Product Management, Business Operations, and Carrier PMs. This position also works with Tech Management to improve software engineering processes and practices associated with continuously building, deploying, and updating software and
environments. This position will also include driving releases, tracking their progress, and working closely with Scrum Masters, Project Managers, and Team Leads to coordinate a centralized
view of all releases and associated dependencies. You will understand dependencies between components so they’re deployed in the right order for a successful delivery. Key areas of responsibility will also include:
· Negotiate, plan and manage current and future release windows and cycles across multiple portfolios.
· Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule, and quality.
· Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and meet or exceed expectations.
· Communicate all key project commitments and changes.
· Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams at different locations.
· Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Go/No-Go reviews.
· Ensure Deployment Plans, Run Books, and Implementation Plans are ready in a timely manner.
· Lead recurring release reporting/status meetings to include discussions around release scope, risks, and roadblocks.
· Communicate release details and schedules to the Business as required.
· Work with development and pipeline engineers to understand impacts of branches and code merges.
· Maintain the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key customers, partners, and vendors.
· Continually work towards making improvements in the release process.
· Identify, communicate, and mitigate release delivery risks.
· Collaborate with Application Delivery team to maintain a release repository
· Manage information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notifications
· Embraces continuous delivery as a goal and helps to streamline the release process.
· Actively participate in scrum meetings, iteration planning, and feature demos.
· Prioritize workload to ensure that work is completed accurately and efficiently within an established time frame.
· Experience leading or working with Scrum teams
· Mobile industry experience
· A solid understanding of project management principles
About You:
· Significant experience in information systems operations environments or development
· 2 years of release management and/or project management
· Atlassian Jira and Confluence experience
· Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycles
· Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
· Effective leadership and analytical skills
· Advanced written and verbal communication skills
· Advanced meeting facilitation skills
· Self-motivated, driven, resourceful
· Enjoy working in fast-paced, collaborative, Agile environments
· Ability to adapt and learn quickly is a fundamental necessity
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
$100,000 - $125,000 a year
