Senior L3 Network and Firewall Engineer

The Level 3 Network Engineer will be responsible for the advanced design, implementation, and maintenance of clients’ network infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of networking technologies and protocols, as well as the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues.

The Level 3 Network Engineer will also ensure that the network infrastructure meets the highest standards of performance, security, and reliability.

There will also be occasions for the role to assist with projects outside the networking space and provide assistance with the helpdesk during peak times as required.

Responsibilities:

    • Act as the escalation point for more complex issues within the team.
    • Resolve issues for a diverse range of systems, applications and technologies.
    • Manage issues submitted by clients via a ticketing system.
    • Train and mentor Helpdesk Staff (training through ticket escalation)
    • Manage events and alerts generated from monitoring systems.
    • Create, manage and respond to tickets in our internal service management software.
    • Log support requests with vendors or third parties where required.
    • Support infrastructure onsite at client premises.
    • Active participation and/or leading technical project delivery.
    • Front line support & administration of Networking infrastructure (wireless, routers and switching), Security (firewalls, endpoint security) Windows, M365, VMWare / Hyper V, Veeam, Datto and cloud environments as required.
    • Project work.

    • Cloud: Azure / AWS / ThinkOn
    • M365: Entra, Security, Intune, Auto pilot and Teams
    • Fortinet
    • Veeam
    • Datto
    • Nimble
    • Nutanix
    • HPE Server / Storage
    • Dell Server / Storage
    • Cyber Security
    • CCNP or better certification
    • The candidate should be an experienced networking expert
    • Previous experience in the MSP space (Minimum 3 years)
    • Experience with ConnectWise Manage, Command and Automate is an advantage.
    • Proven experience working in a Systems Administration / Level 3 Support type role
    • Public Cloud and production experience working with Microsoft Office 365 (migration, design and deployment).
    • Good knowledge of Exchange 2016 - 2019 and Exchange Online.
    • Good knowledge of Windows server 2016 to 2022
    • Good knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP
    • Good knowledge of virtualization (VMware, Hyper V )
    • Hands on experience of supporting and troubleshooting virtualized installations / cloud environments.
    • Good experience with various network technologies (switching, routing, VLAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Self-starter and ability to work autonomously and a team player
    • Strong documentation skills for ticketing and knowledge base
