Quality Engineer - Whitehall, MI

DISHER is currently partnering with an innovative company in the automotive industry to find a Quality Engineer to join their team. This full-time position is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating quality management systems and procedures to ensure product quality, product and process reliability, compliance to customer requirements, continuous improvement, and conformance to engineering specifications in a manner consistent with company standards.

What you will get to do:

    • Plan and direct hourly workloads to facilitate timely flow of product through the plant to favorably impact key indicators.
    • Train personnel in areas including but not limited to: Quality philosophy, SPC, statistical techniques, gaging, corrective action implementation.
    • Prepare and maintain quality procedures required to ensure operation’s quality systems adhere to quality management system requirements and customer specific requirements. Provide work instructions, standards, inspection methods, gages and frequencies and the necessary direction to meet customer requirements. 
    • Coordinate problem solving activities including but not limited to: Training, statistical studies, and team building.
    • Interact with customers in problem solving activities and ensure customer satisfaction goals are met.
    • Interact with suppliers including quality audits and problem resolution with a goal of developing partnerships with suppliers. Analyze supplier PPAP documentation to ensure that the components supplied and processes conform to AIAG PPAP guidelines.
    • Lead, schedule and participate in audit and implementation of quality management systems.
    • Participate actively in cost reduction, cost avoidance programs necessary to meet business plan Initiatives or monthly operational performance objectives.
    • Assist the Quality Manager in establishing and implementing systems and procedures that will support the company’s commitment to continuously improve the overall quality level of it’s products. 
    • Develop and participate in Advance Quality Planning activities for new products and process introduction/release, including but not limited to product and process FMEA’s and cause and affect analysis, as well as process flow diagrams and control plans.
    • Administer the necessary containment, resource sorting and corrective action activities both internally and external in the event of any of the following are encountered: supplier concern, customer concern, or warranty and field returns. 
    • Reviewing customer specs for product assembly and ensuring all materials and resources are available. 
    • Creating and maintaining internal quality standards. Ensuring manufacturing processes comply with quality standards. 
    • Leading other employees involved in assessing supplier quality standards.
    • Responsible for maintaining and reviewing customer scorecards and PAPPs.
    • Performing logistics tasks, such as communicating with vendors when supplies don’t meet quality standards. 
    • Managing and coordinating internal quality sorts with quality/operations teams.

What will make you successful:

    • Knowledge of statistical techniques.
    • Certification to ASQC standards is a plus.
    • College level degree or equivalent experience.
    • 1 to 3 years experience in high volume automated production environment.
