DISHER is currently partnering with a leader in food stabilization in Ada, MI seeking an experienced and highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team focused on designing and delivering cutting-edge custom automation solutions. The Mechanical Engineer will play a pivotal role in leading the mechanical design process, collaborating across disciplines, and engaging directly with customers to deliver innovative systems from concept through production.

What you will get to do:
- Lead the design of custom automation equipment from initial concept through to production, using advanced SolidWorks skills to create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings
- Collaborate closely with electrical, controls, and software engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and control systems
- Provide technical guidance and leadership throughout the entire project lifecycle, including participating in design reviews, conducting risk assessments, and troubleshooting complex challenges
- Engage directly with customers and stakeholders to understand their requirements, present innovative solutions, and incorporate feedback into your designs
- Play a hands-on role in supporting the build, testing, and commissioning phases of projects, ensuring successful delivery of automation systems
- Apply your problem-solving abilities and creativity to deliver innovative solutions that meet customer needs and advance project goals1.

- Demonstrated expertise in designing custom automation systems from concept to completion, with advanced proficiency in SolidWorks for complex assemblies and surfacing
- Strong ability to collaborate across disciplines, working effectively with electrical, controls, and software teams to achieve seamless system integration
- Proven track record of providing technical leadership, including conducting design reviews, risk assessments, and hands-on troubleshooting throughout the project lifecycle
- Excellent communication skills and high emotional intelligence, allowing you to engage confidently with customers, vendors, and executive leadership to understand needs and present solutions
- Deep understanding of control systems, mass and energy balancing, and thermodynamics as they apply to mechanical engineering challenges
- Practical, hands-on experience with machining, tapping, cutting, and using both hand and power tools to support project build and commissioning phases
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment, bringing innovative problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to every project
- Experience in food processing and with supplier specification, quoting, and negotiation will further set you apart
