Edelman is seeking a Senior Account Executive (SAE) to join its Crisis & Reputation Risk team in Seattle. In today’s business environment of more frequent and costly crises, brands and organizations are looking to strategically bolster their resilience to potential reputational threats. We provide senior leadership and boards with strategic reputation risk management counsel to protect and enable the organization’s reputation. The support ranges across the crisis lifecycle – from preparedness to rapid crisis response and recovery. This includes collaborating with colleagues across the globe on a world-class issues and crisis response protocols for a leading food and beverage brand.

We’re looking for a candidate with a “run to the fire” instinct. There is never a dull moment in Crisis and Risk so if you enjoy working in a fast-paced and sometimes unpredictable business environment, then this is for you.

While there’s no “typical” day in this role, we are looking for a team member who is a strong problem solver and who thrives under pressure. Additionally, this role requires someone who is invigorated by challenges, complex subject matter, and thinking critically through the lens of risk mitigation.

The ideal candidate will have issues and/or crisis management experience. This individual must also be willing to grow as an account leader who can play an active role in strategically driving crisis and reputation risk account work.

Responsibilities:

    • Think critically and provide solutions to help our clients navigate their most pressing reputational and business risks
    • Support development of crisis communications playbooks and research and development of content for crisis simulations
    • Serve as daily client contact and act as client lead when appropriate; address client issues thoughtfully and effectively build relationships with internal business partners to meet client needs.
    • Demonstrate strong research skills to help clients form response strategy and POV on hot-button issues
    • Demonstrate general knowledge of social media management and listening tools, as well as basic principles of community management
    • Demonstrate tactical proficiency in media relations and understanding of current media environment; build critical skills to serve as a media spokesperson on behalf of our client
    • Support organic new business expansion
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the differences in writing styles depending on the outlet, channel, and audience (online, social network, traditional media, etc.)
    • Provide client service administration support; attend meetings, handle scheduling, logistics and provide billing support
    • Manage up and work closely with senior staff for project management and delivery.
    • Commit to continuous learning through client engagements, Edelman Learning Institute and other training and development opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

    • At least 3 years of relevant experience in Communications Marketing and/or related fields
    • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience

Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong understanding of and demonstrated experience in strategic communications or PR
    • Must have an interest in crisis, risk, and reputation management
    • Positive, collaborative attitude
    • Willingness to travel onsite (Seattle local) with clients
    • Strong organizational, scheduling, and time/project management skills; possess the ability to multiple deadlines simultaneously
    • Superior verbal communication skills
    • Must demonstrate excellent writing abilities
