Edelman Global Advisory is a recently launched standalone international advisory firm within the Edelman network that owns the firm’s public affairs work. We have rebranded public affairs to advisory to better capture the evolution and future of this sector. Advisory services combine business strategy, government affairs, corporate social responsibility and sustainability, and political risk analysis to help clients navigate changing political dynamics. Our mission is to build trust in today’s evolving geopolitical environment.
Joining the EGA team will provide team members with the opportunity to be involved in the building of this new firm from creating a new culture, to redefining public affairs services, to exploring new services, such as data analytics and political risk analysis. We view ourselves as a start-up built on top of one of the world’s most recognizable brands.
This position will be based in the Edelman Berlin Office and will report directly to the Associate Vice President in Berlin.
Position Overview
We are looking for a talented public affairs professional with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the German public and/or private sector to help us develop our existing client relationships and build new ones. You will build on your policy experience to help businesses understand and navigate the German legislative environment and make an impact.
Supported by the wider EGA network, you will work closely with the Associate Vice President in Berlin. We are looking for someone who is commercially minded, with a demonstrable interest in public policy and excellent understanding of the German political and legislative processes.
You will be part of a growing public affairs team across Europe and can expect a diversity of projects and client deliverables. You will benefit from a friendly work environment while advising some of the most reputable international blue-chip companies and well-regarded business associations. You will cross paths with executives, diplomats, regulatory experts, and industry leaders, while honing your strategy, communication, and business development skills.
As a Senior Program Manager, you will support client strategy, monitor issues, and manage projects. You will also be expected to produce relevant materials for new business development and develop content for thought leadership. With the development of the Berlin office, your role will be to oversee project managers and analysts.

Basic Qualifications & Requirements
We are looking someone who has:
o An academic qualification which is relevant to public affairs (e.g. law, economics, politics) or specific policy areas of interest – or comparable professional experience;
o Recent work experience of at least 5 years – preferably in the German public sector or at a position which required regular engagement with institutional stakeholders at local, regional, and Federal level. Experience in a public affairs agency or a public affairs team of a company is a plus.
o Excellent understanding of the German political landscape, legislative processes, and policy trends.
o Good network, or willingness to develop a network among key stakeholders and opinion leaders.
o Demonstrable knowledge of and interest in relevant policy areas (e.g. agriculture, food, consumer protection, sustainability, energy, digital, mobility, health, trade) gained directly through your work experience to date, with the willingness and ability to adapt to working on other subjects;
o Excellent people skills, including the ability to build collaborative relationships with the broader EGA team, clients, and external stakeholders.
o Ability to write and translate complex issues into a language suitable for either technical or non-technical audiences and to communicate impactfully in person and in writing.
o Enthusiasm, a focus on the client, a dynamic, quick-thinking approach to work, a good eye for detail and strong analytical skills;
o Fluent spoken and written German and English is required;
o Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), additional skills are a plus.
o Interest in digital forms of communication and a good understanding of the social media landscape
Tailored Scope of Work
You will contribute to the work of EGA by:
o Identifying and monitoring relevant regulatory, policy and political developments, assessing their impact on the client and delivering timely and insightful analyses
o Drafting position papers and other relevant materials on core policy and regulatory issues
o Developing and supporting the implementation of client-specific public affairs strategies, in collaboration with EGA teams globally
o Acting as a day-to-day contact to clients, managing deliverables and ensuring client satisfaction
o Identifying policy and market trends and pitching new business opportunities, particularly in relation to the German market.
o Conducting research to inform pitches and producing pitch materials
o Producing opinion pieces on policy or industry developments of interest
o Liaising with relevant German and EU institutions
o Organizing and preparing materials for meetings, events and other client/stakeholders or media engagement activities
o Attending conferences and events and actively developing a public affairs network
