We are seeking a confident and experienced Associate Director of Content & Thought Leadership to join a highly capable and passionate marketing and communications team at Edelman working across the EMEA region. The marketing and communications function works across a range of cross-sector programmes, IP, events, partnerships and employee initiatives. All with the aim to create a pipeline of content across channels and formats that brings fame and recognition to Edelman whilst driving growth through lead generation and engagement with clients and prospects.  
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, EMEA, you will work as a key connection point, generating and dissecting reactive and evergreen content by leveraging Edelman’s powerful and varied marketing and communications calendar. In this role you will be responsible for harnessing existing Global IP, such as the annual Trust Barometer and Special Reports, content generated by our Global and Regional Sector, Practice and Specialist leads and local market activity to build bespoke and highly targeted content strategies aligned to Edelman’s growth objectives.  
The Associate Director, Content & Thought Leadership will be responsible for building regional content strategies to support the wider marketing activity in place across key sectors such as Health and Technology as well as Edelman’s Specialisms and Practices including sustainability, employee engagement, corporate reputation and B2B. You will also build best practice strategies and guidance providing support to our local markets to engage audiences with the right content, at the right time, in the right channel. 
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, strategic thinker, constantly curious and have a flair for editorial and writing. 
This role is for someone with well-rounded B2B marketing experience whose core skill set combines content strategy and editorial with media, digital marketing and lead generation. 
 

Key responsibilities:

    • Generate proactive content strategies utilising the vast content and IP at your fingertips to drive awareness and engage existing and new audiences.  
    • Identify and generate content and thought leadership opportunities, finding fresh, innovative ways to get our message out there, from long-form editorials, short-form LinkedIn author led posts, podcasts, webinars or speaking opportunities.  
    • Spot reactive or news hijacking opportunities based on trends, business and current affairs, either utilising proactive editorial or repurposing content with a fresh perspective.  
    • Develop a plan for all marketing campaigns and initiatives ensuring they are aligned to clear and achievable objectives and deadlines.  
    • Create best practice guides and frameworks to deliver effective, efficient, and highly versatile content strategies including audience profiling, channel analysis,  
    • Be able to lead team members and others other the business to ensure deadlines are being met, and projects and campaigns are delivered on time with high-quality execution. 
    • Work with the wider team to develop, execute and report on content lead “lead generation”.  
    • Consider and curate a pipeline of profiling opportunities for executives and experts from across the business to elevate the profile of the agency and its talent.  
    • Ghost writing and copywriting support and guidance where relevant for senior executives. 
    • Own and evolve Edelman’s regional messaging house ensuring we have a consistent tone of voice and messaging to land in market and connects with our audiences, from existing clients, prospects and current and new talent.  
    • Act as wider brand guardian by ensuring output of high-quality and inspiring content.  
    • Implement a measurement and reporting framework to ensure we measure ROI and the impact of content and thought leadership across the region. 

Key Requirements:

    • Significant, well-rounded marketing experience in positions of increasing responsibility with a minimum of six years of experience. 
    • Galvanising, energetic and empathetic leadership – someone who empowers and coaches teams to deliver success whilst being an effective decision maker who provides leadership across planning, creation and execution of all marketing activity.  
    • Ability to interpret and operationalise business strategy, aligning team activities, ensuring efficient and effective operational excellence that support business goals. 
    • Demonstrable project management skills and an innate capacity for organisation 
    • Robust understanding of current and future integrated marketing concepts, strategy and best practice 
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail 
    • Excellent copywriting and editing skills 
    • Proven ability to engage and manage senior stakeholders  
    • Work collaboratively across functions to deliver results in all parts of the business and bring a business partnership mindset to the role. 
    • Demonstrable knowledge of current affairs, trends and industry topics 
    • Experience in managing CRM systems and creating effective lead gen campaigns 
    • Friendly, approachable manner with a flexible attitude to work, with the ability to build relationships collaboratively across the business at all levels 
    • Ability to use own initiative whilst working to tight deadlines in a demanding environment 
    • Excellent Microsoft Office skills including Teams
