What’s the opportunity?

The mission of the Payins vertical is to give our merchants a world-class payments solutions for their users, by leveraging the emerging markets capabilities to the best in class possible. A great payment experience, high conversion and customer satisfaction is a must.
At dLocal, as Head of Engineering you will be working closely with your Engineering Managers, Engineering Leads, Architects and Technical Referents across multiple teams to make product vision and roadmap happen with top quality solutions and within the defined timelines. You will also need to hire top talent, grow teams and inspire your vertical members.

What will you be doing?

    • Lead, mentor, and inspire multiple high-performing engineering teams.
    • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
    • Develop and execute the company's technology roadmap in alignment with business goals and partnering with the Product leadership team.
    • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure the company remains at the forefront of innovation.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate technology solutions seamlessly while negotiating and working with company leaders and stakeholders for cross-project success.
    • Lead recruitment efforts for top engineering talent across various positions, defining hiring strategies, and mentor engineers and leaders for career advancement within the vertical.
    • Manage with a hands-on approach to problem solving.
    • Design and implement scalable and reliable architectures to support the company's growth.
    • Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation.
    • Establish and enforce coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes.

What skills do you need?

    • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience.
    • 5+ years leading software engineering teams.
    • 3+ years leading managers.
    • Experience leading teams of 50+ engineers and managers.
    • Proven experience as a Head of Engineering or a similar leadership role in a fintech environment.
    • Strong background in building excellent large scale and customer facing products in the fintech industry.
    • Passion for leading, scaling and motivating teams.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Customer oriented person.
    • Ability to work in a changing environment with complex projects and tight timelines.
    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
    • Demonstrated success in scaling engineering teams, designing and developing high scale systems.
    • Technical expertise to guide the vertical about architecture and technical solutions with high input of the business considering costs, scalability, observability and resilience.
    • Experience hiring top talent.
    • Strong experience in building cloud-based microservices.
    • Ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
