What’s the opportunity?
As our Operational Risk Specialist at dLocal, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating operational risks that could impact our organization. Your primary objective will be to help protect the company's assets, reputation, and compliance with regulatory requirements by implementing effective risk management practices and procedures.
What will I be doing?
- Process Mapping: Conduct thorough process mapping exercises to identify and document operational workflows, systems, and activities.
- Risk Assessment: Execute comprehensive risk and controls assessments across operational processes, systems, and activities to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities.
- Internal Controls Testing: Lead internal controls testing initiatives to evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls and identify areas for improvement.
- Incident Management: Establish and oversee an efficient incident reporting and management system. Conduct thorough investigations into incidents to ascertain root causes and recommend preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences.
- Business Continuity Plan: Develop and maintain a robust business continuity plan to ensure uninterrupted operations in the event of disruptions or disasters.
- Operational Loss Data Capture and Monitoring: Design and maintain an operational loss data dashboard, incorporating necessary regulatory classifications.
- Collaborate with the Finance team to calculate Risk-Weighted Assets (RWA) pertaining to operational risk.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements governing operational risk management practices.
- Risk Modeling and Methodologies: Develop and refine risk models and methodologies to enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of risk measurement and management processes.
- Reporting and Presentation: Generate regular reports and presentations for senior management and risk committees, providing insights into operational risk exposure and mitigation efforts.
- Policy and Procedure Development: Contribute to the formulation and implementation of risk policies and procedures, aligning with organizational objectives and regulatory standards.
What skills do I need?
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in operational risk management (as the second line of defense)
- Strong understanding of financial and payments industries, processes and products.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and requirements (e.g., Basel III) related to operational risk.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Experience with big data tools and databases (e.g., Python, SQL and Spark) and also experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Power B, TableauI and Quicksight).
