We are seeking a Scientist II/Senior Scientist, Analytical Chemistry to support the commercialization of biobased processes. This Scientist will help efforts in developing and optimizing our high throughput microbial engineering platform from strain design and construction to testing and data analysis. Successful candidates will have previous experience in routine analytical analyses, preferably under a quality system, leading small teams, and collaborating with other departments. Experience with HPLC/UPLC and MS required.

Responsibilities

    • Lead method transfer, development, optimization, and validation efforts
    • Represent the Analytical team as subject matter expert for assigned projects
    • Train and mentor new/junior team members, as needed
    • Sample preparation, analysis, data reduction, reporting, and reviewing
    • Identify and coordinate new analytical resources, as needed
    • Routine instrument maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination of repairs
    • Assist in troubleshooting technical laboratory issues
    • Proactively participate in the development and maintenance of a data quality system
    • Maintain safe practices and work environment
    • Keep excellent laboratory records

Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related field with at least 5 years of applicable experience, or M.S. with at least 10 years of applicable experience
    • Skilled in operation of HPLC/UPLC and MS
    • Quantitative, data-driven analysis of experimental results and an analytical mind-set
    • Experience in following, drafting, and revising detailed SOPs and protocols
    • Experience with method transfer, development, optimization, and validation
    • Capability to manage multiple work-flows and experiments within a single day
    • Ability to effectively work in cross-disciplinary teams
    • Must be a self-starter, motivated, scientifically curious, and collaborative
    • Open to feedback and rigorous data review, able to conduct reviews and provide feedback
    • Flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends
    • Experience in statistical analyses and Design of Experiments (DoE)
    • Electronic notebook (ELN) experience, especially LabGuru
$115,000 - $140,000 a year
Commensurate with title and experience.
