Do you want to work in a key role at Europe’s leading distributor of data and decision support? The Data Centre of Excellence at Dun & Bradstreet is looking for an Ontology Architect to work with a broad range of projects part of an exciting transformation journey!
The Role:
As an Ontology Architect, you work in a European data organization that consists of colleagues from around Dun & Bradstreet Europe. In your daily work, you collaborate with business stakeholders, tech- and information specialists to deliver knowledge-based solutions to create a state-of-the-art joint data architecture based on linked data.
You work both independently and together with the team to implement the vision of a high-tech data management system. The system will dynamically manage and describe several interesting and business-critical areas of information for all of Dun & Bradstreet markets.
The ontology architecture supports the implementation of extensive automated data management processes and privacy/compliance by design. Dun & Bradstreet has a data knowledge graph based on semantic technologies to enable this. In this role, you are part of designing the future ontology architecture and guide its gradual implementation through working closely with representatives from different parts of the organization.
You will be a part of ensuring that the ontology meets the requirements regarding Dun & Bradstreet’s global and local markets. It will be your responsibility to integrate a developed strategy for data management.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Designing, validating, implementing, and managing the knowledge graph and ontology structure within Dun & Bradstreet.
- Applying the ontology hands-on in the development of new data supply chains.
- Guiding the development of our future data architecture—balancing long-term vision with short-term wins.
- Collaborating in cross-functional teams and project-based environments to ensure effective and sustainable ontology development.
- Ensuring our data architecture meets compliance requirements for both Dun & Bradstreet and local markets.
- Integrating mature data governance processes in line with our overall data governance strategy.
- Communicating and educating internal stakeholders about the purpose and value of the ontology, while actively gathering and incorporating feedback from across the organization.

- You are a person that combines strategic thinking with practical execution—someone who can bridge the gap between technical design and real-world application, and who is motivated by the impact of well-structured data on business outcomes.
Basic Qualifications
- Degree in Library Science, Information Systems, Linguistics, other relevant fields, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years of experience in a similar role where you worked with ontology and/or taxonomy roles, large quantities of data/information such as data scientist, information architect or data analyst.
- Experience and expertise in modeling of data/information.
- Ability to dive into very different topics and abstract from the details to identify patterns.
- Proven track record of strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to quickly understand complex processes and communicate them in simple language.
- Proficient English language skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience of working with requirements engineering of data
- Experience of Data Governance
- Familiarity with Semantic Web technologies (RDF/s, OWL, SKOS), query languages (SPARQL) and validation/reasoning standards (SHACL, SPIN)
- Knowledge of open-source and/or commercial ontology engineering editors (e.g. Protege)Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Systems, Linguistics or other relevant fields
