Position Description:
In this role, you will provide full service commercial legal guidance to Dun & Bradstreet’s Czech and Slovakian businesses.  As a Legal Counsel you will be part of the global Dun & Bradstreet legal team with dedicated and professional colleagues. The legal team is spread out around the world, but you will be part of the D&B Europe commercial legal team focusing on the Central Europe region (Czech and Slovakia). You will report directly to the Head of Corporate Legal Affairs in the CEE region.
In addition to working alongside talented legal colleagues, you will work closely with our Global Compliance & Ethics team as well as other relevant stakeholders at all levels across the organization. This is a highly varied, interesting and challenging role that gives you the opportunity to gain valuable experience across different areas of expertise in a truly international environment. 

Key responsibilities include:

    • Partnering with local sales team members to advise and manage deals to conclusion, including advising on commercial deal structuring, negotiating and drafting customer contracts, as well as negotiating and documenting contracts with licensors, distribution partners, and suppliers;
    • Assisting in the structuring, negotiation and project management of cross-jurisdictional deals. Providing business-focused advice on deal execution, advising on commercial deal structuring;
    • Providing general advice and support to procurement function (including preparing standard form templates, and negotiating and drafting vendor agreements);
    • Supporting the local customer and data teams in data purchasing, data quality management and complaints handling, including where required contract negotiation and drafting, and complaint/litigation advice and management;
    • Working with internal stakeholders to support business initiatives which affect contract management and compliance;
    • Leading and supporting initiatives to enhance and improve D&B’s standard contract forms and processes, as well as local implementation and governance reviews of new contract forms;
    • Supporting cross-functional strategic initiatives relating to ongoing commercial relationships, including new product development and introduction, data innovation, technology improvements and commercial arrangements for global customers and global alliance partners;
    • Liaising with colleagues in the in-house global legal team and local outside counsel for specialised and/or localised support as needed
    • Supporting the Global Compliance & Ethics function in ensuring awareness with applicable laws and regulations, as well as internal policies, guidelines and directives
    • Keeping the business abreast of legal and regulatory developments, in order that the leadership teams can react accordingly and coordinate actions.

Education and Experience:

    • A legal degree from a recognised state university;
    • Experience of negotiating a wide range of contracts directly with customers, suppliers and other parties. Previous experience at a recognised law firm and/or within an in-house environment;
    • High calibre academics and training, including legal drafting and relationship management;
    • Fluency in Czech and Slovakian.  Fluent or advanced proficiency English;
    • Strong internal and external communication skills;
    • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of contract law, intellectual property licensing and commercial contracting concepts;
    • A good understanding of the data and analytics business and processes;
    • Familiarity with local data and privacy regulations, as well as corporate governance;
    • Demonstrated ability to advise and influence internal partners at all levels;
    • Previous experience of supporting a sales function/organization is desirable;
    • Strong organisational, analytical, oral and written communication, problem solving skills, intellectual curiosity, a positive attitude and a high level of integrity;
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a global team;
    • Excellent computer skills (use of Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, etc.).
