Advertising Manager
Washington, DC (DNC HQ)
Mobilization (Digital) /
Full-time /
On-site
The Mobilization Department seeks an Advertising Manager to join the record-breaking DNC advertising program. In this role, you will take the lead on scaling verticals within our ads program. That could mean overseeing our Google Ads program (YouTube and Search), planning and executing P2P rentals, negotiating list buys, or researching and testing new ad platforms that can drive incremental revenue. This role is ideal for a seasoned, jack-of-all-trades strategist with a creative eye, stellar organizational skills, and a deep passion for using new online spaces to mobilize grassroots supporters to donate to the Democratic Party.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the growth and success of specific verticals of our ads program – creating and implementing strategies to maximize scale while hitting ROI benchmarks.
- Experiment with new ad platforms and spaces where we can reach and mobilize our supporters online and tell a coherent and integrated story across all channels.
- Plan and develop ad campaigns from start to finish: Conceptualize new ideas or iterate on proven concepts, write engaging copy or scripts, and collaborate with the design and video teams to produce compelling graphics and videos that inspire donors to take action.
- Own the development of plans to target, grow, and reactivate some of the largest audiences in politics in partnership with email and data/analytics colleagues.
- Analyze large swaths of performance data to monitor long-term trends and areas of growth for our program, identify and share fundraising insights, and compile detailed reports to drive future strategy and inform stakeholders.
- Write direct-to-camera scripts for a wide range of principal voices and audiences.
- Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in fundraising ads.
- Track record for creative innovation: You can put yourself in the shoes of our grassroots donors to craft compelling hooks and angles that motivate them to action.
- Proven analytical skills: You can seamlessly navigate data to make daily optimizations, identify big-picture trends, and derive insights to inform creative strategy.
- Highly responsive communicator and collaborator: You are on top of your email inbox and Slack messages, comfortable interfacing with vendors, and willing to ask questions and request help.
- Stellar attention to detail: You catch typos, grammatical errors, broken links, and extra zeros, and are capable of maintaining ambitious timelines and organized systems.
- Ability to write persuasively, authentically, and concisely, and to tailor your writing to different messengers, audiences, and goals.
- Ultimate team player: You are open-minded, eager to learn from others, adaptable amidst ambiguity, comfortable receiving feedback, and always looking for opportunities to lend a helping hand.
- Experience managing complex fundraising programs: You are a visionary thinker who can translate big ideas into a concrete plan – and can organize and manage the various stages of implementation.
- Relentlessly driven to test and experiment, even in the face of setbacks: You’re someone who throws a lot of things at the wall to see what sticks, you don’t lose steam when tests fall flat, and you naturally see the value of finding new ways to drive incremental revenue.
- Comfortable giving feedback and direction, mentoring junior staff, and fostering an optimistic, motivated, and collaborative team culture
- Must be in or be willing to relocate to D.C. and work in-person most days of the week.
- Willing to work late evenings, weekends, and on a rapid response basis to capitalize on significant moments
Preference is given for:
- Experience with Google Ads Manager
- Experience executing investments in email acquisition and P2P rentals
