The Democratic National Committee is hiring a Deputy Director of Social Media Analysis to support our efforts to measure online sentiment and detect and counter online misinformation. You will be responsible for detecting misinformation narratives and harmful, manipulated media in real-time, conducting deep-dive research into social media manipulation networks, and building data tools to support digital counter messaging. The Deputy Director will report to the Director of Social Media Analysis. 

Responsibilities:

    • Develop tools and dashboards to analyze social media conversation and outbound digital content 
    • Conduct real-time misinformation and manipulated media monitoring
    • Propose and conduct research projects into social media manipulation networks 
    • Provide analytics support for public opinion research efforts and outbound content creators

Qualifications:

    • Ideal candidate will be an experienced data analyst with a background in social media research or integrity work.
    • 3+ years of experience using SQL, Python or other programming languages to build robust data pipelines and analysis tools.
    • Experience with Google Looker Studio or other data visualization/ business intelligence tools to build reports with actionable insights
    • Experience with open source investigations into online manipulation, misinformation, and/or extremism. 
    • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, real-time media monitoring environment. 
    • A deep understanding of social media design and company policies.

Salary: The starting salary for the Deputy Director of Social Media Analysis position is $80,000, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends, and has an end date of November 15, 2024.
