The Deputy Rapid Response Director works with the Rapid Response Director to execute efforts to hold the Trump Administration and Republicans accountable. This position will help craft daily responses to Republican extremisms through a variety of tactics, including written press materials, opposition research, press calls, and more.
The Deputy Rapid Response Director reports to the Rapid Response Director.
Responsibilities:
- Work in coordination with the Rapid Response Director to execute the DNC’s rapid response strategy;
- Monitor breaking news and identify opportunities for written materials, pitches, and more;
- Help craft communications plans for rapid response operations around major GOP events and to achieve the War Room’s long-term objectives;
- Work with reporters to land opposition research on Republicans;
- Assist in managing rapid response team work flow and help oversee junior staff on the team;
- Other duties as assigned to support the department and the DNC's mission.
Qualifications:
- Candidates should have a sharp eye for message, enjoy following all the twists and turns of a 24/7 news cycle, and have the ability to turn around high-quality products quickly.
- Candidates must have an interest in managing staff.
- Candidates should have 4-6 years of communications experience, including experience on-the-record and in high-pressure environments.
The starting salary for the Deputy Rapid Response Director position is $92,250, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt position, that may require work on weekends.
Travel: The Deputy Rapid Response Director position will require travel, which could be up to 15% of the time.
