POSITION SUMMARY
 
The Research Project Manager (RPM) is responsible for executing and supporting research activities internally and externally under the direction of the Research Director. The RPM participates and assists with the development of DNWest-related research projects to facilitate the organization’s service to local and national research institutions. The RPM aids in strategic planning and work towards maximizing DNWest’s goal to increase its involvement in clinical research applications and the Allocation of organs and tissues for research and oversees the process of Allocation by other research staff members.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Performs and supervises the process of organ/tissue Allocation for research.
    • Participates in organ/tissue recovery for research.
    • Designs and carries out internal research projects and principal involvement in strategic planning, developing, and implementing internal research opportunities at DNWest’s research laboratory.
    • Collaborates and regularly meets key stakeholders, including scientists with approved projects, in further developing and optimizing protocols for research.
    • Works in the DNWest Discovery Lab to dissect, process, and ship research organ/tissues following specific protocols.  
    • Participates in strategic business growth, account management, business forecasting and collaboration with management across the organization on the implementation of partnerships and business development goals.
    • Responsible for implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, and action plans related to the development of bio-clinical research. Actively works in partnership with external entities to develop new lines of research at DNWest.
    • Reviews and implements tissue collection protocols for research projects.
    • Supervises the whole process of shipping, documentation, and verification.
    • Assigns tasks to individual research team members to allocate, procure, and the proper documentation of the process.
    • Directly supervises Research Recovery and Laboratory Technicians including Research interns.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrable ability to set and meet deadlines.
    • Capable of developing and implementing policies and procedures.
    • Capable of developing relationships with various researchers, physicians, and research organizations for the purpose of providing options of research and therapy donation.
    • Familiar with the process of publications in peer reviewed journals.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Pathology or Biology-related field or equivalent, plus at least 1 year of work experience required.
    • Prior experience with working in a biological research/diagnostic laboratory required.
    • Experience with managing team members and verfying their capabilities required.
$95,268 - $119,034 a year
