GENERAL JOB FUNCTION

The Donor Program Liaison develops, implements, maintains and evaluates donation strategies aimed at limiting the number of occurrences in which coroner/ME’s and funeral homes deny donation from occurring and increasing referral volume.  The Liaison will prompt effective service to coroners/ME, funeral homes and non-hospital referral partners (in the 40 county donation service area (DSA) to enhance professional relationships and increase donation awareness and support through education.  The Liaison will work closely with the tissue recovery management team to ensure seamless, comprehensive and collaborative customer service.  Additionally, development and support for referral sources such as hospice and EMS Systems may be expected.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Upholds CA Health & Safety Code and Nevada Registered Statute sections for Uniform Anatomical Gift Act facilitation
    • Develops and maintains profiles and procedures in relation to both coroner/ME, Funeral Homes and non-hospital referral partners.  Establishes and maintains effective partner relationships by providing a high level of customer service through timely and ongoing communication, presence and visibility.
    • Strives for zero donation denial rate. Strategically assesses and proactively responds to individual partner needs in quality assurance, policy development and shares mutual feedback
    • Markets, develops and provides education, information and consultation to non-hospital donation partners to ensure all aspects of donation process and understood, supported and practices/implemented, including production of eye, organ, and tissue donor autopsy report
    • Fosters collaboration, communication, and collegiality with eye, organ, tissue procurement staff and call center staff for purpose of fully supporting donation process.  Serves as an internal resource for the purpose of ensuring seamless service to funeral home partners, coroner/ME offices and other referral sources.
    • Provide routine orientation training and education to selected DNW personnel on relevant topics pertaining to interactions with coroners/ME, funeral homes & non-hospital referral partners in collaboration with DNW management
    • Collaborates with internal DNW departments to gather and create resources and programs that promote donation, including effectively utilizing DNW volunteer base
    • Provide real time partner assistance during cases when challenging coroner/ME or funeral home interactions are being experienced.
    • Working in conjunction with operations and recovery, provide educational opportunities to Coroner/ME Offices, funeral homes, and referral partners as necessary
    • Provide support for internal donation information staff by collection of necessary documentation from partners.
    • Attend  California State Coroner Convention and Funeral Home Association or other professional conferences as designated to maintain a presence within each respective communities
    • Follow up with both coroner/ME Offices, funeral homes and referral partners following donor recovery to ensure quality of service, communication and recovery processes
    • Function as primary contact with coroner/ME, funeral homes and referral partners  in DNW services area to address concerns, billing questions and recognition of best practice
    • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

    • High level of internal and external customer service
    • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal
    • Proficient public speaker

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Criminology, Business, Social Work, or other related health care field preferred
$80,509 - $89,454 a year
