POSITION SUMMARY
 
An intern at Donor Network West participates in an internship program designed to provide on-the-job training, education, and experience for roles associated with the Organ and Tissue Donation Industry. An intern Engages in various work assignments, projects, and activities of varying complexity, structured to enable the intern to gain the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities needed to become an advocate for donation within their community. This is a fixed-term position.
 
Interns can expect to receive training and mentorship in planning and carrying out activities and assignments specific to the department they are an intern for. Interns who are participating in an internship sponsored by an academic or professional institution will receive training and mentorship that meets the requirements of their program.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provides entry- to intermediate-level professional services, under supervision of professional staff and/or faculty personnel, as appropriate to the day-to-day operating objectives of the unit.
    • Undertakes and/or participates in projects and programs designed to develop professional skills and expertise appropriate to the needs of the organization.
    • Participates in the planning and implementation of unit projects and initiatives within area of expertise.
    • Interacts directly with colleagues internal and/or external constituencies in the planning of assignments and the resolution of day-to-day operational problems.
    • Receives guidance, training, and mentoring from professional personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments.
    • May undertake related studies or enrichment programs as appropriate to the specific objectives of the operating unit.
    • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Expectations

    • 6 hours per day Monday - Friday in-person in San Ramon, CA.
    • This position is intended to provide a mutually beneficial arrangement where the candidate will receive highly valuable experience working in a world class laboratory while staff will benefit from having more time to focus on advanced tasks and project work.
    • Staff will rely heavily on the candidate to be responsible and to perform assigned tasks in a correct and efficient manner. As a result, past work history, volunteer activities, notable achievements/honors, and letters of recommendation will all be seriously considered as part of the selection process for this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Academic Interns (Interning as part of an academic program)
    • Academic interns must meet the minimum qualifications of the program that they are part of.
    • Academic interns must remain in academic good standing as determined by their institution for the duration of the internship.
    • Professional Interns (Interns who are not part of a formal academic internship program)
    • Professional interns must meet the minimum qualifications set by the department they will be interning for. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • An intern must be actively enrolled in or a graduate of an academic program
    • Specific education and experience requirements are dependent on the role or department the intern is interning for. 
$17 - $17 an hour
